Apple Cakes Recipe
A couple of weeks ago, the lovely people at Flora sent us the ingredients required to make the Apple Cakes featured in their newly launched ‘Flora Cuisine Let’s Get Cooking’ cookbook.
The cakes were something Liv and I were able to make together and eat together! A simple recipe, with basic cupboard ingredients, that was easy to mix due to the fantastic Flora Cuisine taking the stress away from having to wait for butter to become easy to stir. Definitely a fabulous alternative. It was the first time I had ever used Flora Cuisine and I was highly impressed, although did think it resembled salad cream! Since I have used Flora Cuisine to cook roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Both turned out to be superb and absolutely delicious and it is something I will definitely stock up on to keep in the fridge to cook with again in the future. It is so easy to use when baking, mess free when roasting and I really did think my roasties were slightly crispier with a wonderful taste to them.
Below you can see the images from cooking the Apple Cakes, if you would like to make the cakes yourself, here is the recipe…
Apple Cakes Ingredients:
115ml Flora Cuisine
115g Self Raising Flour
115g caster/muscovado sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 eggs
2 dessert apples, cored and chopped into small chunks
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 5/190°C/170°C fan/375°F
2. Mix together the Flora Cuisine, flour, sugar and cinnamon. Break in the eggs and mix together until smooth.
3. Fold chopped apples into cake mixture. Divide among cupcake cases, remembering not to overfill.
4. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. The cakes are ready when they spring back when lightly touched with a finger.
My personal number 5. Enjoy!! Be advised that they more-ish!
