It’s Pancake Day this week(Shrove Tuesday 12th February 2013) and I have been busy ensuring all the ingredients I need are stocked in our cupboards.
Some people choose to make pancakes with plain flour, some with raising… I always choose plain and mine turn our perfectly well!
The lemons and sugar are ready and waiting, alongside Hershey’s Chocolate Flavour Syrup… yes you read correctly! Hershey’s, that lovely American brand that make delicious chocolate!
I have been amazed by Amazon in the past couple of weeks, especially since buying fancy dress items back in January. Yet I was even more surprised that you could purchase delicious food items too!
Alongside the pancake accompaniments, we also have Aunt Jemima’s Original Pancake and Waffle Mix – a cheat’s way of making pancakes. Yet in this instance the mix makes the wonderful butter pancakes and can easily be used to make waffles! To say I am drooling whilst writing this post is an understatement! I can see my Weight Watchers journey will take a slight detour tomorrow but it will most definitely be worth it!
A trusty Pancake Recipe I use every year is:
100g of Plain Flour
2 Medium Free Range Eggs
300ml Semi-Skimmed Milk
Vegetable oil for the pan
Simply mix all the ingredients together to make your batter
Heat the pan and wipe a little of the oil on kitchen towel around the pan. This stops the pancakes sticking but does not make them oily.
Measure out a small cup or ladle filled with the batter and pour into the pan. Tilt the same way you would for an omelette.
Cook for around 30-40 seconds and each side.
Serve hot with fillings such as lemon, sugar, chocolate sauce, golden syrup, strawberries, bananas, ice cream, mixed berries.
Enjoy your pancakes!
We were sent a pack of Aunt Jemima’s Pancake Mix and the delicious Hershey’s Chocolate Flavoured Syrup for the purpose of this post – they are just two of a wide range of cooking accessories and yummy American foods available on Amazon.
