Quality clothes for long-term summer wear
There are some things you need in summer every year – flip flops, a sun hat and a swimming costume, and so each time we fork out for something new. Nobody wants to feel the need to buy a whole wardrobe every time the season changes though: it’s just not feasible for most of us. So, the trick is to buy good quality, long lasting clothes that will keep looking great for years to come.
The most important objective to keep in mind is to buy something you like. If you’re going to be wearing it for the next couple of summers, try not to compromise on anything – choose colours and styles that suit you and enhance your features, whilst keeping in mind the need for comfort. In summer one of the best fabrics to wear is light cotton, as it is breathable and will keep cool. It also doesn’t tear or fray easily, especially if you’re buying from well-known retailers.
Make sure you have a range of items so that you can be prepared for every kind of weather summer can throw at you. Invest in a lightweight jacket for cooler evenings like this Cotton Traders ladies jacket, great for those days when you can’t bear to go outside without a cover-up. Skirts are great as they can be dressed up or down, and a light floor length or maxi skirt can keep you warm or cool depending on the weather. Shorts are good for hot days in the garden or at the beach; but a better long term option are linen trousers, Cotton Traders offer a great selection of ladies linen trousers which are longer and will enable you to cope with any occasion – wear with pumps and a t-shirt for a barbecue at home or a sparkly top and heels if you’re going out. They can also be worn all year, except for those really cold winter days.
When you’re buying clothes with the intention of wearing them over a long stretch of time, don’t be afraid to spend a little more than you would on your wear-once clothes. The top end high street stores are really good for this – you get durability, comfort, style and class as well as a good brand name all for a decent price.
Enjoy shopping for your new, all-inclusive wardrobe this summer, but remember that there’s nothing wrong with picking up a new item or two each summer to change and brighten up your look – but wave goodbye to spending sprees of the past.
