Liv and I have yet again been ridiculously busy, but this is how I prefer it, time moves too slowly when you simply sit idle.
Last weekend we spent some quality time with our extended family and it was great to have some one on one time with my niece before she finally makes the move to go to University this weekend. I cannot believe it has been 12 years since I was in the same predicament.
There were so many boxes around her room that you struggled to find floor space, but having been there myself I knew exactly what it was like. Trying to figure out what is most important and what definitely needs to go with you when you move away is hard. I unfortunately left too many things behind at my parents house which were eventually binned when they moved. Silly little notes that I used to send to friends during school classes and receipts from first dates as a kid… that kind of thing.
One thing I definitely don’t envy of my niece is juggling money. I remember totally what it was like and I lived in London, it was too expensive for words! She has done the sensible thing of researching Student Bank Accounts to help her with her finances and my sister is going to be bulk cooking food for her to freeze and then cook in the microwave when she wants it. I jokingly said that if her food was already arranged it meant more drinking money. Not that I am condoning students spending their student loan on drinking… not at all! Snakebite and black is awesome and reasonably cheap in the Student Union bars
I am envious though, of the fact she still has so much of life to experience. University days were some of the best of my life and I would love to go back and have that freedom again. So, if you are about to venture into University territory this September my advice is make sure you attend all your lectures, listen and revise and most importantly have fun!
