Smartphones…exactly how Smart are they??

by S1m

I tend not to go with the norm and go for the more obscure choice but oh how I regret my decision when it comes to my mobile phone!

After having Sony Ericsson mobile phones constantly for the past 8 years due to their ease of use and their technological features, I am utterly disappointed with my current Sony Ericsson Satio.

At a time when everyone was opting for the Apple Iphone and Blackberry’s I decided to plump for the Satio. The lure of a 12 mega pixel camera and touch screen was too much for me to even consider any other smartphone.

Within 6 weeks I was already on the 2nd handset due to problems receiving text messages. There was me thinking everyone I messaged was being ignorant and in fact it was me as when I was talked through resetting the phone a stream of delayed texts came through… Whoops! The problem continued and Orange were forced to replace the dud handset. A year down the line and I am still as fustrated as ever and my blogging and website work is making this even worse along with other problems with the phone!

The internet is particularly slow and I have to access emails as I would do on any computer so this really does not help when I need to email on the go!

My mind is now totally fixed on CyberMummy in June this year and even though I am really very excited I am also very nervous! As a mummy blogger who does not generally get to attend events due to my location I have been given the “golden ticket” by the wonderful Sell It Baby (www.sellitbaby.co.uk) to attend. I am sure I am not the only blogger who has reservations about finally meeting people we have been communicating with online in the flesh.

Having spoken with many bloggers it seems the Blackberry is the phone of choice, convenient, instant emails (great for when you have to work on the go like me!), stylish and everything you need in a phone. When did phones stop being phones anyway? The 12 megapixel camera on the Satio is great but have I used it as much as I thought I would when I got it? No, not at all.  Oh for the days of a 12 month contract and phones having tetris and a calculator as the extra features!!

I guess I will be taking my Satio to CyberMummy with me and will hide it away in my bag, looking on in envy as everyone types away on their marvellous smartphones.

When I can eventually change my phone at the very end of this year I shall definitely make sure to consult all my wonderful blogger friends and go with the masses as opposed to my own quirky style!

The Satio was one I was going to go for, thankfully though, I didn’t..
After my huge faux pas with the Nokia N900 I opted for the BlackBerry Curve 3G and I LOVE IT!!

I’ve had it 3 months and I’m still not bored with it… 3 months with the N900 and I wanted a Nokia 402 (remember those? with the aerials?). BlackBerry’s must be good! 🙂

Loving my HTC Desire. I always recommend Android phones as the best choice if you want a really good smart phone.
