Now that half-term is over I can breathe properly and finally have a sit down and catch up on everything that I couldn’t do! As Liv’s pre-school closes for half-term it meant a week of keeping her occupied whilst trying to fit in work and everyday chores. I realised how much I take those two mornings a week she attends pre-school for granted!
We visited our local soft play centre with our neighbours, my wonderful best friend and her partner came over and kept Liv occupied whilst we all trundled around Tesco – they even unpacked my shopping and stocked my fridge whilst putting the kettle on! Definitely friends I will love forever!
More friends came over for cup of tea (are you getting the picture we like to drink tea!!) and we played outside and made the most of the glorious weather, well you never know that could have been our only chance of a summer!
I generally sort the washing machine once Liv has gone to bed and last week was no exception – until my worst nightmare happened… the tumble dryer tripped all the fuses. Erugh, when all you want to do is load the washing machine this is the last thing you need! In order for the tumble to work properly again it requires almost taking the cupboard apart, taking the back off the tumble, drying with a hair dryer (am sure Hotpoint will not recommend this, though we came across this method on a help blog!) and then fixing all back together again. Once completed I tried the tumble, it came on again and the washing machine whirred back into life. Great, all I needed to do was push the tumble back in the cupboard again – in my haste to get this done I accidentally tripped all everything again resulting in a very stressful half hour until I realised what I needed to do. In the end everything was sorted, my clothes were washed and dried and my fridge (and more importantly the TV!) was back on.
When I eventually flopped down after a very exhausting day of looking after a very active 2 year old and then DIY maintenance, I remembered I had received a wonderful package that same morning! Bloggers will know the company as the Fairy Godmother – to anyone else they are… Appliances Online and had been kind enough to send me a scrummy box of Hotel Chocolat chocolates!! After my terrible experience with appliances, it was quite ironic that Applicances Online had sent me this lovely surprise… almost as if they knew!!
On another note… after 4 weeks in Iraq my husband is now home. This means at last I can have some sort of peace and quiet (a little hard to achieve when you have a 2 year old!) and any DIY disasters can be fixed by someone else!
What have I learnt the past 4 weeks…?
That single mothers/fathers definitely deserve a medal!
I have the most fantastic best friend and wish she lived a little closer!
If all else fails I could work for Hotpoint as I can easily take their tumble dryers apart and assemble them again!
I need to take a break for myself every so often and I most certainly need to eat Hotel Chocolat chocolates more often! :OP
Thank you Appliances Online!
If you could make a wish, what would you ask the Fairy Godmother for?
