On May 2nd, Nick Jr showcased their new children’s programme aimed at pre-school aged children. Poppy Cat revolves around a little girl named Lara who has a wonderful imagination and invents Poppy Cat and friends. Each episode is 11 minutes long which is a perfect length for children who Poppy Cat is aimed at to keep involved and engaged with the programme.
“Told with humour and great heart, these stories give children a glimpse of their own potential for imaginative play and creativity through the tales of a very special cat and her equally interesting band of friends.”
Poppy Cat was first introduced by writer and illustrator Lara Jones in 2003 in a series of books and is now shown in episode form on Nick Jr every week day at 10am. Narrated by the fantastic Joanna Page, each adventures begins in Lara’s bedroom as she invents stories for her beloved cat named Poppy.
Whilst Poppy and her friends never fight amongst themselves, their character flaws will often steer the adventure, for good and bad. Filled with humour and education values this really is one programme you will like your child to watch!
We received a copy of Poppy Cat’s Dream, a beautiful pop-up book to get us geared up for the start of the show and it truly is amazing. Such a wonderful story with an easy reading style. The pop up pictures add that little bit extra to the story and Liv loves reading this book for bedtime. I hope that she falls asleep dreaming of Poppy as she really is a delightful character!
