LeapFrog- leaping into the future and introducing the LeapPad

by S1m

Toys and children’s items have certainly come on leaps and bounds since my day and LeapFrog’s fantastic range is certainly no exception. Having reviewed Twinkle Twinkle Little Scout last year and also being the proud owners of a Learn & Groove Learning Table we really are great fans of the brand. With technology constantly changing the brand is keeping up to date by creating items such as the Leapster Explorer which pushes the boundaries of imagination, entertainment and innovation.

The console (I hate to call it that as it isn’t all about games!) is the Ultimate Learning Experience for children aged 4 to 9 years old. Alongside aiding your child’s creativity, geography and life skills to name a few, this product provides a great start to helping your child with school basics. LeapFrog have made learning fun for children and given parents the opportunity to keep track of their child’s learning progress.

As the Leapster Explorer is handheld, this makes it perfect for travelling and keeping your child occupied (and also engaged) due to it’s portability. With the options of playing games, watching videos, reading E-books and many more, there are over 30 titles to choose from, your child will become a technology expert in no time! Remembering your child’s level from game to game and automatically adapting to their pace, it proves very easy for your child to understand how to use the console and enjoy every moment.

The ability to download learning apps means parents can help their children to choose games and activities that suit their needs and brings the whole family together.

The additional Leapster Explorer Camera turns the console into a digital camera or video recorder. Pictures can be taken that can be personalised and then used to play activities. This will really develop your child’s creativity and will provide great fun for the whole family!

LeapFrog have been busy developing new technology for children and this August (2011) will see the launch of the LeapPad, the new addition to the range that resembles a certain pad made by a fruity manufacturer! The LeapPad is described as the first learning tablet just for children and it looks fantastic! Building on the very popular Explorer, the LeapPad will offer a new way of learning for children that is completely unrivalled. A very interactive learning tool that will open up many levels of discovery and creativity.

I for one am so excited about the prospect of the LeapPad hitting the market, but for the meantime we have the opportunity to put the Explorer and camera through it’s paces. We will certainly be busy for the next week, testing every aspect of what the console has to offer.

You can see a sneaky teaser of the new LeapPad here.
