Disclosure: This is a featured post. All thoughts, words and opinions are my own. Yes, I really don’t like the sea and yes, I really did miss a train I was stood in front of!
As a single mum to a very cheeky 4 year old daughter, holidays can only be a pipe dream due to the effort involved. Anything that involves travelling by train is something I would not normally consider as I am utterly useless when it comes to catching the right train. I have been known to stand in front of my train and still miss it!
Recently Liv and I embarked on a lovely mini holiday which was all lead by catching trains and in all honesty the process was so much easier and enjoyable than expected. Would I travel by train again? Absolutely!
Would I even consider railway holidays in the future? For someone who doesn’t like the sea then these types of holiday would be ideal! The sophistication and romance surrounding railway holidays always remind me of Agatha Christie novels. I expect once you are on the correct train you can just kick back and enjoy your holiday, stopping off in wonderful places to sample the local delights.
I can only imagine the sheer luxury of this type of holiday, which is why I do not think taking Liv aboard would be relaxing, I would no doubt return home needing another holiday!
It is definitely something to consider when I am older and can simply kick back and relax, let someone else be in the driving seat for a change and fully enjoy a holiday for what it should be.
The thought of getting away from it all and having someone pamper me completely, making my food, chauffeuring me around, washing plates, doing the laundry and looking after everything to make sure I have a relaxing time sounds perfect. A proper holiday is exactly what Liv and I need, somewhere sunny, where we can soak up the vitamin D and return home with a little colour in our cheeks… I had better start reading up on holiday brochures as it looks doubtful the sun will make an appearance this summer!
