Today has been a ridiculously busy day – so my feet are well and truly up and the wine is chilling in the fridge as I type! Our lovely day was all courtesy of the fantastic Laura over at Tired Mummy of Two, who also manages Blogs Up North.
Our day started with a visit to the Trafford Centre HomeSense store – located in-between Legoland Discovery and the new super Sea Life Manchester (opening June 6th 2013). Part of the TK Maxx umbrella brand, HomeSense offers pretty much everything you could possibly want for your home. We were very kindly treated to a £20 gift voucher and pretty much informed to go wild and spend to our hearts content.
Music to my ears as it meant I could start putting my decorating project into action! I first had a look at the vast array of cushions on offer, all very reasonably priced yet I did not spot the exact hot pink that I am looking for. I did however come across a reasonably priced chaise longue in my favourite colour… definitely a consideration!
Liv and I eventually decided on 2 photo frames that are going to be randomly placed around the house, a notebook for myself and a tin of cards and envelopes for Liv. So two happy ladies!
The reason for our visit? To celebrate the opening of the new Manchester Arndale HomeSense shop. The opening will be on Thursday 30th May 2013 and I believe the first 200 visitors receive a £10 giftcard to spend in store – bonus! The prices are very reasonable and follow the same concept as TK Maxx in the form of cheaper than the original ticket price – so go on and treat yourself! Antony Cotton from Coronation Street fame will also be there to help open the store!
After a lovely lunch at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen in the Trafford Centre Food Court… courtesy of HomeSense (thank you so much you lovely bunch!!) we then made our way back to Barton Square for our sneak peak around the new Sea Life Manchester which opens to the public on 6th June 2013.
There was a whole host of bloggers waiting to go in and have a look around. We were lucky enough to be joined by the very funny (and cute… he is shorter than me!) Alex Winters from CBeebies and his lovely family.
The Sea Life Manchester is exactly what you would expect… very fishy! There is lots for children and adults to look at including beautiful turtles and of course the infamous walk through tunnel with Stingray and Sharks swimming overhead… I am certainly not envious of the person who has to clean that tank!
Liv got to have some hand contact with crabs – apparently they are only out on show for 30 mins before they are swapped and given a 3 day break… lucky crabs!
We had an amazing time and I am still processing everything – the Sea Life Manchester is a must for anyone. Liv is a huge animal lover and she loved taking her time, looking at all the fish, especially Nemo (clown fish!).
I now hear the bottle of wine calling me so I really must go and pour myself a glass but I want to say a big thank you to HomeSense and Sea Life Manchester for their hospitality today and wish them both well with their respective openings! 🙂
