Cooking With Frozen Food… Proving How Easy It Is!

by S1m

I have been given the task to cook a meal using frozen foods. Now I do not have a problem with frozen food – for me it is a real time saver and the food is just as delicious as fresh food. In fact, I am pretty sure that frozen vegetables retain most of their nutrients as they are immediately frozen.

I was gifted money for this post by CoolCookery so that I could go and buy some food to stock up my already buldging garage freezer… so what did I buy?

Prawns – goes without saying! Β 20130729_115759

Vegetables

Rice Infusions

Diced Onion – always a handy one to have

Puff Pastry – to go with my frozen berry mix

and erm… Hash Browns

Having the food is one thing but what can I actually make with the aforementioned? Well, weirdly enough a great deal! I would be quite happy to live on Prawn Mayonnaise sandwiches… however I do have to make something that shows off frozen food at its best…

Spanish Omelette here I come πŸ™‚

I love omelette and luckily so does Liv. We are also great vegetable lovers in our house so mixing everything together is going to be easy and will go down a treat.

I am going to slice up some new potatoes and lightly cook them with the onions and a little oil – luckily I do not have to worry about dicing the onion with tears streaming down my face. I will also throw some prawns in too just to cook them slightly before adding the other ingredients.

The potatoes will take around 20-30 mins to cook down before I can take out and strain. I will blend the 6 eggs required together and add everything back in the pan. I know this will be the tricky part as it’s a case of will everything rise and will I actually be able to get it out of the pan?! Wish me luck and I will be back with the results and full recipe later πŸ™‚

Disclosure: I was provided with funds in order to purchase the frozen food needed to prepare our yummy dinner πŸ™‚
