My Ideal Royal Ascot Outfit!

by S1m

We have just spent a wonderful extended weekend camping trip in the rather stunning Peak District. It was the first time I have ever been camping and the notion that you do not tend to shower whilst camping was a little too much for me. Within 24 hours I had already had a 15 minute shower – that was £3 well spent, but nothing compared to the rather luxurious hour long bath I enjoyed upon our return home to what I call ‘civilisation’… the fact I have the TV, laptop and iPad on, whilst charging my phone is clearly something I took for granted before the camping trip!

The campsite owner was such a lovely lady who had had to deal with several rowdy campers last night (no, not us before you even think it!!) – it was England’s first World Cup match so it was to be expected. She mentioned that she was going on a much deserved trip to Ladies Day at Ascot with her friends next week, I was just thinking how much I deserved a bath, but her outfit sounded amazing! It got me to thinking what I would wear if I got a chance to experience the action at Royal Ascot. Albeit I have enjoyed a work’s trip to Windsor races before, nothing really compares to Ladies Day at Ascot, so in typical ‘Sim Style’ I decided to put my dream outfit together… you know, just in case I ever do attend!

Here is what I managed to put together…

Royal Ascot Outfit

This stunning Tipped Irah Dress (£115) from Coast is simple yet stylish, it looks very comfortable which is a necessity!

The shoes from Coast which relate to the dress are actually quite pretty too, a coral pinkish colour. The Michela shoe is currently less than half price at £30 too… bargain!

Now, a hat sounds like an awesome idea, it is an occasion to show off and be seen after all, though if the weather is windy your hand will be attached to it all day to keep it in place. So a fascinator such as the Floral Bow Hat which again is reduced to a reasonably priced £28 would match the shoes perfectly!

I am all for clashing and huge abyss like bags, but for an occasion such as Ladies Day, a clutch is definitely the way forward – this gorgeous White Patent Clutch Bag with Black Trim from Olga Berg (£41.99 from Isabellas Handbag Shop) matches the dress perfectly and allows the shoes and fascinator to do the talking!

I am certainly not attending this year, but who knows if my outfit may come a reality for next year!

Great fascinator! But did you know that Royal Ascot even has rules about how big a fascinator needs to be to be allowed?! I was surprised when I went online to check the dress code!! Fab outfit.

I recall reading something about all the rules… I never conform so it’s a good job I am not going this year 😉

Oh my, that dress is simply stunning! I hope that the campsite owner has a great time at Ascot

I hope she does too, she looked slightly frazzled when we left as they had dealt with the aftermath of their teenage son’s party the night before. I am locking Liv up till she is 21!! 😉
The dress is stunning, so simple and elegant… just would not do anything on my curvy figure unfortunately 🙁
