Surrounded by the stunning North Yorkshire scenery, Ox Pasture Hall Hotel (family and dog friendly) is a 4* luxury, country house hotel with a difference. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, a wedding setting you will never forget or a simple break away from it all, you need to seriously consider this hotel.
Within 10 minutes of Scarborough itself and roughly 30 minutes from Whitby, Ox Pasture Hall offers guests a relaxed atmosphere with the option of the finest dining in the local area.
Awarded 2 rosettes for culinary excellence, The Courtyard Restaurant offers modern British food, with ingredients sourced locally. Walking into the restaurant with a 5 year old, who had already had several tantrums was a daunting prospect but the setting could not have been more relaxed and my daughter soon found herself happily chatting to the lovely and inviting staff… much to my relief!
I cannot recall a time when I had such fine cuisine, it was certainly many moons ago now. The Courtyard Restaurant menu is extensive and offers a range of meal options for most tastes.Click to enlarge
Starting with the Duck, I was pleasantly surprised with how light yet filling the dish was. The attention to detail was something beyond any capabilities or patience I have but it complemented my main dish of Beef perfectly.
What can I say about the Beef? Besides the fact it was mouth watering, tender, succulent and I could only ever aspire to cook my beef to that level of perfection.
Already fit to burst, we were gently persuaded to try a dessert… with a 5 year old who always orders ice-cream, I found that my arm wasn’t twisted too much and spying an array of Lemon inspired desserts, my decision was an easy one. I was not disappointed and was able to make sure my plate went back clean… the different lemon tastes and textures of each individual dessert portion made for a zingy experience!
For an overnight stay, you will wake up to the choice of cereal, croissants, yoghurts and fruit, though for those who prefer something heartier, you do have the choice of a full English, omelettes, boiled egg and soldiers (a favourite of Liv’s!) and more.
The breakfasts really did set us up for a day spent on Scarborough beach, somewhere I had not visited since I was a child. The very short distance between the seaside resort and the hotel, made it easy for us to dash back in time for our Afternoon Tea, which was simply divine and rather calorific! All freshly made, the scones were still hot and in an attempt to ensure we ate all we could, even took it back to our room!
Rooms at the hotel, offer guests the chance to fully quick back and relax. Set in an intimate courtyard setting, the rooms are very airy and spacious, with all amenities to hand. We were lucky enough to experience our stay in a twin bed suite, with a separate lounge area (very handy when Liv was snoring away!) and huge, beautifully tiled bathroom.
Liv and I would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel for welcoming us to stay for 2 nights for the purpose of this review and also over on Manchester Mummy. It was a fantastic treat for us both, made nicer for the fact someone cooked for me for change!
