Christmas: Gadget Gift Ideas

by S1m

Gadgets are always really popular gifts to give at Christmas, here are some of the funky items we have been using recently. Note to men, cool gadgets not hoovers or frying pans… unless they have specifically been asked for!

If you have been keeping track of my fitness posts, you will recall I overdid the running slightly in my first week of the Couch to 5K programme and had to take the best part of 3 weeks off with a swollen knee. The HoMedics Handheld Shiatsu Massager (£39.99) was an absolute god send and really helped to elevate the serious pain I was in. I know I am dramatic, but I am not exaggerating the pain, it was awful! Now that my gym programme has changed again, I have found myself using leg muscles I never knew about, so the massager has been cracked out again.

With different speed settings to find a comfortable massage, I cannot recommend this highly enough for people who are suffering with gym injuries or any kind of discomfort. There are interchangeable heads for smooth, invigorating and deep tissue massage, depending on what you require. It is portable and easy to store, simply hooking up to a plug socket. It was a little heavier than I expected, but it is a substantial piece of kit – it is by no means heavy, just heavier than I expected… and very easy to grip with the ergonomic easy grip handle. An awesome gadget to gift this Christmas… though why not check out the full HoMedics range for more inspiration!

We were sent a few Zippo products to feature in our final camping post of the year, unfortunately the Tentipi had to go back for a photo shoot, but we shall be reviewing early next year along with the stove. Until then the Zippo fire kits have had to remain packaged, but I have still been able to use the Flexible Neck Utility Lighter (£14.50) and the Handwarmer (£20.75).

The Utility Lighter is awesome, it has a real flame thrower fire to it – perfect for lighting your grill and candles due to its long flexible neck, but can also be used outside thanks to the wind resistant dual flame technology. Personally, I love anything like this, having owned a few cool Zippo lighters in the past. The Utility Lighter is very classy though and is the perfect complement for any kitchen. Runs on Butane Gas, which you will need to purchase yourself before using the product.

How cool and stylish is the Handwarmer?! Staying warm for up to 12 hours, it runs on Lighter Fluid, which you will need to purchase before using the product. Keep it in your pockets, using the included cover to keep you warm whilst out and about – the school run will be slightly more bearable. A classy gift to give this year and a perfect stocking filler… and warmer! 🙂 Replacement burners can be purchased separately.

I love the fact you can always rely on Zippo products, I have no doubt these will last me for years to come, it will simply be a case of purchasing new fuel and replacement burners for the handwarmer from Zippo.
