Healthy Eating With GoodLife, Heck And Cherry Tree Farm Food

Goodlife Vegetarian Food

Being strict on my weight loss journey can be somewhat boring and I do find that I am constantly eating the same foods… simply as I know the calorie content and they are easy meals to make.

Recently though, we have been sent some fantastic new food to try out… all very in keeping with my weight loss journey and all super yummy!

Goodlife Vegetarian Food

Admittedly vegetarian food has never appealed to me, my mind set was always that it was dry and tasteless however one brand has totally changed my thought process on meat free food. Goodlife frozen vegetarian foods have been making unique vegetarian food for the past 25 years and I only wish I had been aware of them sooner.

The range is made up of Red Sky Tomato and Basil Sausages with creamy mozzarella (our favourites),  Cauliflower and Mature Cheddar sausages with truffle oil and Spicy Veg Beanburgers with a kick of chipotle chilli to name a few – you can view the range here.

Goodlife Vegetarian Food

The Red Sky Tomato and Basil sausages have been our favourite so far, they are so versatile and anything goes with them! They were bursting with flavour and packed full of goodness – with 70 calories per sausage, I could easily treat myself to 2 (There are 4 in a pack!) mixed with vegetables and not feel guilty. I was taken aback when Liv ate all her sausages, like me she is also a creature of habit but the Goodlife range is packed full of flavour and have certainly changed my opinion of vegetarian food. The Goodlife range can be found in Waitrose, Booths and selected independent retailers.

Heck Chicken Italia

Following on with the sausage theme… I have tried the Heck traditional sausages before and really enjoyed them, however their Chicken Italia range, which I was unaware of is equally as tasty and contains much less fat… perfect for those on a Weight Watchers or Slimming World diet. Each sausage (10 in a pack) are 34g and roughly 36 calories – made with juicy British chicken breast and thigh with basil, tomatoes and mozzarella, they are gluten free and only 3.5 Slimming World syns… for the whole pack! 🙂 Good news for Beth on SW!

The range also include Chicken Italia meatballs and the soon to be released burgers. The meatballs are divine and we had them with pasta, making a super tasty Italian meal. Only 180 calories per 6 meatballs (12 in a pack)  when oven cooked, that makes them 30 calories each! My diet is suddenly become a lot tastier and more experimental! You can check out the range here. Heck products are found in Tesco stores.

Cherry Tree Farm

Available from the Co-Op, I only managed to find the sliced British Roast Chicken (7 slices per pack and currently £2), so treated myself to several packs. With only 19 calories a slice, the chicken has made a delicious alternative to having ham salad wraps… now I am living on chicken salad wraps! Liv is also enjoying chicken sandwiches and the fact we can strip it and add as a topping on pizzas. I have been really impressed with how versatile the chicken slices are! There are more products in the range including Turkey Ham and British Chicken Tikka Chunks to name a few – the chunks would be awesome in a salad wrap to add chunkiness and a different texture. The chicken is actually really tasty – I tend to favour ham as I am not a huge chicken lover but have found the Cherry Tree Farm sliced Chicken to be full of flavour and really moist. A definite winner in our house! You can check out the full range, with nutritional values here.

All the food stated above have certainly contributed to my successful weight loss journey and have been a very welcome change from what I was normally eating… the contents of my shopping trolley have changed since trying the new foods.

I still need to try the burgers – I am not sure how Liv will get on with them… many save them for myself when she is away! The sausages were lovely though and much tastier than I ever expected! 🙂
