Welcome to the Weight Loss Wednesday linky – Week 20!

Thank you so much to those who have linked up so far, throughout the last 20 weeks – everyone’s journey is completely different, every diet, exercise plan and overall target, but the support has been the same no matter what. I appreciate all the lovely, motivating comments I have received and hope you feel that linking up is helping you on your journey too!

Right, soppy stuff out of the way *ahem*, let’s crack on with this week.

Last week, I gave myself the week off to ‘right’ myself, it gave my knee a much needed and deserved rest and also appears to have healed my kidney and back pain… awesome! Going back to the gym after a week off though was very challenging. as legs feel like they do not wish to move and you feel all out of sync. Monday was made easy by the fact I was running in my new trainers, choosing a half size larger seems to have paid off and numb toes are a thing of the past. I am still struggling to beat the 3k mark though – I’m hoping that a run out in the great outdoors will see to this later in the week, when I finally venture outside in the continued quest to train for Race For Life!

They finally arrived and are even more colourful than expected!

Eating, it had been ok… until my evening meal last night, when I totally gave in after what felt like an endless day and ordered a takeaway. Having been good, I’m angry with myself for relenting but nothing was going to motivate me to cook… I had reached the ultimate mental block and I literally CBA. I really do not want to step back into old habits again so really need to give myself a talking to. Lots of water and black coffee has been consumed this last week – with a little unexpected hiatus on Saturday – a few more bottles of wine were consumed than expected as a friend had recently finished her final year Uni exams… celebrating was definitely on the cards and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I feel that I have been trying to walk upwards on a downwards travelling escalator recently and albeit I have lost recently, I am annoyed I am not losing more and then go and screw it up… like having a takeaway the night before weigh in! I should point out that before the takeaway for dinner, I hadn’t actually eaten all day… I know! I know! I will never listen! Weight loss this week has not changed… yet – am sure the takeaway will have some effect but I am going to take that and eat better, healthier foods this week… and stay away from alcohol!

If only Morgan Freeman could voice a podcast for healthy eating, I would be there!

I’m looking forward to seeing how you get on with running outdoors – I’m yet to make the change from the wii fit and I thnk it’ll be a lot harder than running on the spot ! Don’t beat yourself up over one takeaway – you’re making permanent lifestyle changes and the odd takeaway,wine-fuelled eveningor bar of chocolate is all part of that ! xx

As am I! Currently looking at the rain outside, even the dog doesn’t want to go out! Brightening up tomorrow though so no excuses! It’s one of those things, but I had not had any alcohol in a while and to be honest I could quite easily have carried on, was lovely and chilled! Getting out and about will definitely be different but I am hoping easier in some respects as there will be so much to see that boredom will not come into play. xx

Hey Sim,

I didn’t know you were training for a 5 k. Good on you but make sure you enjoy it and don’t push too hard.

My tip for getting out and about is to just go where you would train an walk most of it so you’re not going to trip and you can let your body (particularly your legs and ankles) get used to the terrain, then just do some light jogging for a short while next time and build from there.

That always works for me if I’m worried about getting injured. Many of my posts are this type of workout while out walking with my family which makes it a lot easier to fit in.

Sometime the good blow out on too much is wine is good, just not all the time. Im sure it wont hinder you, same as the takeaway.

Nice running shoes you have there. Good that you are keeping pace with your health and fitness regimen. Are you planning to join a 5K run, then go for it.

If you still keep in track, although, you take a rest means your eyes are still on the goal. Focus on it. Doesn’t matter if you walk up and down, as long as you keep in mind what your real goal is. πŸ™‚

Hey! Don’t be hard on yourself! It’s okay to be a little too lazy with the workouts or whatever routine or even by eating something you really like but shouldn’t just because tomorrow, you have to weigh yourself. I know this is a weight loss program you’re doing but I think, as long as you know your limits and that you know how to get back on track, it’s fine. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re doing great anyway!

Nice tip that trainers should be a half-size bigger. If it is just right, the feet can get numb and squished when it expands with the movement.

Awww… Give yourself a break! If you gain during these period, try losing them in the next. The more you are obsessed with your numbers, the worse it will become!

I think if Morgan Freeman did a podcast I’d just end up relaxing a bit more. Good luck with the outdoor running, people who get into the swing say the love it! I’ve yet to reach that stage!

Sounds like you’re doing really well! Don’t be too hard on yourself for the takeaway! It’s the long game that counts. Have you tried the couch to 5k program? That’s how I got started. I found it too daunting just to keep running otherwise. Good luck!

Sounds like you’re doing great, and we all enjoy a takeaway every now and again. As long as it doesn’t become the norm then I don’t see a problem. I’ve done bad this week, and had a pizza on Saturday. The problem with that is I see the gain 2 days later, ie today! So yes, I’ve gained this week. But I’m on the case and intend to lose it again. πŸ™‚

First off loving those trainers!! Now re losing weight and diet, we are all allowed treats/junk food, don’t feel guilty for that, steady progress is the best route and I think overall you’ve got a great routine going so don’t be hard on yourself!! #bloggingtojogging

you’re doing great, don’t beat yourself up so much! We are allowed a treat and it’s about eating in moderation the bad stuff. It’s hard to get back into it when you haven’t run, even for a short period of time. You’re determined and you’re doing great xx

I hope you’re all right. I’ve noticed when I run lately I get shin splints, no fun! I rather sprint, sprinting doesn’t do the same as jogging or running, weird.

My knee has actually held out very well today considering I haven’t run in a week, apart from a mini jog on a dog walk mid week… all is looking ok for the moment! πŸ™‚ xx
