Welcome to Weight Loss Wednesday Week 22!
This week has seen a huge shift in my mentality and eating habits due to starting The New You Plan on Monday morning for a 2 week review of the diet.
Today is Day 3, started with great energy and motivation and it’s all about ketosis baby! Ketosis is the state in which your body starts utilising your fat stores to produce the energy you need to carry on. This is a very good stage and don’t you know all about it on the way to get there! Cold chills, hunger pangs, shivers and headaches are the norm till you reach the ketosis stage and are nothing to worry about – just keep drinking water and all will be fine! Once reaching ketosis stage you will no longer feel hungry and will actually find you have more energy to crack on with your day! The diet by this point will be in full swing!
I didn’t start the diet until 4pm on Monday afternoon due to a neighbour taking my lovely package in for me and then nipping out… #rude! 😉
When I opened the package, I was greeted by hot pink tissue paper, almost making the package seem like a present… I was in my element! Contained inside were all the TFR (Total Food Replacement) meals I had chosen for the next 2 weeks with the help of the rather awesome Grant (cool accent dude!). Grant was ridiculously helpful, talking me through each meal option available and each snack option (you are allowed 2 snacks per week on top of the 4 meal packs per day) – it’s almost like he knew what I would prefer and everything he recommended I said yes to. So far the BBQ chips (a snack) are my absolute favourite and I am so glad I took the recommendation on these.
For TFR you have 4 packs a day… this can consist of Weight Loss shakes (chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, banana, hazelnut and mint chocolate), bars, porridge, soup and actual meals, such as Chicken Noodle Curry (thumbs up from me!) and Pasta Carbonara to name a few.
I chose to stick to what I know and chose chocolate shakes for the majority, Chicken Noodle Curry, Chicken Soup and Chocolate Cream Cookie bars and so far, have tried everything! A maximum one bar per day and the rest a mixture of the other meal options. Having tried the soup and the Noodle Curry, I really do wish I had chosen less shakes and mixed up the meals more. The chocolate shake however is lovely, I just really enjoyed having a hot soup, out of a bowl earlier. Psychologically you are still eating! The shake is sweeter than previous alternative TFR diet shakes that I have drunk, which makes The New You Plan my favourite TFR diet to date.
I know I am only on Day 3 and so far everything is a novelty, the motivation and determination is there – let’s see how I am next week when I hope I can
When I started the diet, I also became a member of a secret group on Facebook (shhh, it’s a secret!) for others on The New You Plan and to say they are making this so much easier for me is an understatement. To know it is not just me who has to tackle the different hurdles that a TFR diet throws at you – we are all in this together and all in for the long haul – pretty much like #WeightLossWednesday. The group are super supportive and everyone helps each other get through the day discussing meal options, water allowance and generally providing virtual hand holding support.
I am really impressed with the support, not only in the group but also from The New You Plan customer service team. They really care and want to ensure you are ready and have the best resources possible to get you through your journey. Expect lots of helpful emails! I also received a personal handwritten card in my package – it’s the extra touches that really count and make you feel special.
