Weight Loss Wednesday Linky – Week 22 #WeightLossWednesday

Welcome to Weight Loss Wednesday Week 22!

This week has seen a huge shift in my mentality and eating habits due to starting The New You Plan on Monday morning for a 2 week review of the diet.

Today is Day 3, started with great energy and motivation and it’s all about ketosis baby! Ketosis is the state in which your body starts utilising your fat stores to produce the energy you need to carry on. This is a very good stage and don’t you know all about it on the way to get there! Cold chills, hunger pangs, shivers and headaches are the norm till you reach the ketosis stage and are nothing to worry about – just keep drinking water and all will be fine! Once reaching ketosis stage you will no longer feel hungry and will actually find you have more energy to crack on with your day! The diet by this point will be in full swing!

I didn’t start the diet until 4pm on Monday afternoon due to a neighbour taking my lovely package in for me and then nipping out… #rude! 😉

When I opened the package, I was greeted by hot pink tissue paper, almost making the package seem like a present… I was in my element! Contained inside were all the TFR (Total Food Replacement) meals I had chosen for the next 2 weeks with the help of the rather awesome Grant (cool accent dude!). Grant was ridiculously helpful, talking me through each meal option available and each snack option (you are allowed 2 snacks per week on top of the 4 meal packs per day) – it’s almost like he knew what I would prefer and everything he recommended I said yes to. So far the BBQ chips (a snack) are my absolute favourite and I am so glad I took the recommendation on these.

For TFR you have 4 packs a day… this can consist of Weight Loss shakes (chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, banana, hazelnut and mint chocolate), bars, porridge, soup and actual meals, such as Chicken Noodle Curry (thumbs up from me!) and Pasta Carbonara to name a few.

The Chicken Noodle Curry pack contents (left) and made up with water and left for the recommended time (right)

I chose to stick to what I know and chose chocolate shakes for the majority, Chicken Noodle Curry, Chicken Soup and Chocolate Cream Cookie bars and so far, have tried everything! A maximum one bar per day and the rest a mixture of the other meal options. Having tried the soup and the Noodle Curry, I really do wish I had chosen less shakes and mixed up the meals more. The chocolate shake however is lovely, I just really enjoyed having a hot soup, out of a bowl earlier. Psychologically you are still eating! The shake is sweeter than previous alternative TFR diet shakes that I have drunk, which makes The New You Plan my favourite TFR diet to date.

I know I am only on Day 3 and so far everything is a novelty, the motivation and determination is there – let’s see how I am next week when I hope I can

When I started the diet, I also became a member of a secret group on Facebook (shhh, it’s a secret!) for others on The New You Plan and to say they are making this so much easier for me is an understatement. To know it is not just me who has to tackle the different hurdles that a TFR diet throws at you – we are all in this together and all in for the long haul – pretty much like #WeightLossWednesday. The group are super supportive and everyone helps each other get through the day discussing meal options, water allowance and generally providing virtual hand holding support.

I am really impressed with the support, not only in the group but also from The New You Plan customer service team. They really care and want to ensure you are ready and have the best resources possible to get you through your journey. Expect lots of helpful emails! I also received a personal handwritten card in my package – it’s the extra touches that really count and make you feel special.

I will be listing everything else included in the package in another post!

How are you this week? Have you tried The New You Plan? Did you have any favourite meals you could recommend?

This plan sounds fab! I need something like this in my life x

Caroline June 3, 2015 at 9:38 pm

Wow sounds interesting! Not something I’ve heard of and to be honest not something I’m sure I could do (I like my food too much lol). But it sounds like they are very supportive and there are lots of choices so I hope it works for you and it all goes well! Xx

I must say that food does not look too appetizing with such monotonous brownish color only. I hope the taste is not too bland as it looks.

Are these instant packs really healthy? I know there are convenient and low in calories. But be careful of processed food!

papaleng June 4, 2015 at 8:30 am

This plan sounds great. I wonder if for just a few days you stay out of the plan. Would you gain more weight?

Pingerrain June 4, 2015 at 9:17 am

The problem with ketosis is that it is the last resort for the body to tap on the store and to keep your body in that state is not a good option cause once you are on regular food diet, your body will begin to store MORE food into fats because you have used up the store during ketosis stage.

I used to rely on ketosis to burn fats but it did not turn out good. Not only I had drop some weight, but I put on more then after.

I suggest you to take care and be careful, please?
Safety is always the most important thing when one wants to lose weight.

Your weight loss program still the best way to be fit and you’re done the exercises I think. Determination is the key.

Raquel June 4, 2015 at 12:01 pm

The best of luck with your diet. It’s not easy to cut down on our favorite snacks, but with enough perseverance, we can make it. That was an interesting fact about ketosis as well.

May De Jesus-Palacpac June 4, 2015 at 12:14 pm

You know, it’s the diet part that’s a bit hard for me because it means having to adjust our groceries. IT’s not that easy because I have small kids who need a totally different diet from me. I’ll check on that FB group. 🙂

yuhjiun June 4, 2015 at 1:04 pm

wow the plan sounds great! Stick with it and you can do it :D!

Louise June 4, 2015 at 3:14 pm

It’s good that you found a support group where you can share what you’re going through in your fitness program. It is good too that the company is there to support. It is really hard to go on a diet most especially if you’ve been used to it for quite a long period of time. Well, good luck with your TFR! 🙂

Karen of MrsLookingGOod June 4, 2015 at 11:28 pm

Congrats for embarking on this journey! The choices you’ve made are still delicious and yummy so it’s not going to drastically adjust your tastebuds LOL.

It’s fantastic to hear that you also have your own Facebook support group. It makes sense to join a community where everyone is undergoing a similar experience. Good luck and wish you all the best!

the chicken noodle curry doesn’t look that appetising but it must be good if you gave it a thumbs up! i would have thought it’d be bland

Elizabeth O. June 5, 2015 at 9:24 am

The plan sounds really good. And who says, you can’t eat yummy food when dieting

Urban Mumble June 5, 2015 at 9:36 am

I miss participating in weight loss wednesday but I haven’t written anything health related for a long time. Maybe next week 🙂 I’d be keen on reading more about ketosis. I want to try fasting as soon as I’m done with breastfeeding.

Franc Ramon June 5, 2015 at 12:20 pm

Good luck on the diet. I think the food replacement should work since it still gives you the needed nutrients.

Ling Tan June 5, 2015 at 10:06 pm

looks like an interesting dieting plan. sounds like you actually enjoy the meals – do they actually taste half decent? Rather tempted too!

Raymond Vasquez June 6, 2015 at 2:20 am

Wow! What would I give to also have the courage to follow a plan like this? haha Brave of you to have an endeavor like this. All the best for this Sims! “

Ren June 6, 2015 at 11:35 am

It’s always great to have a plan to follow. Even better if there’s a supportive community around that plan. Best of luck on your journey!

Sunshine Kelly June 6, 2015 at 7:19 pm

My favourite diet meals is steam brocolli with grilled salmon. Its is simple to cook, tasty and full of vitamins, fiber and omega.

Hui Zi June 7, 2015 at 1:32 pm

Wow, mint chocolate shakes and chocolate cookies as part of the weight loss plan? Tell us more!

Morgan Prince June 8, 2015 at 10:09 am

You sound very motivated hun and that group sounds perfect. I’ve had a good week too, perhaps it’s the fact that the sun has shown up that is making us all feel a little more positive? Either way it’s a good thing!

Good luck with the rest of the plan hun. xx #BloggingtoJogging

Betty and the Bumps June 8, 2015 at 11:27 am

I’m very attracted to the idea of having food delivered and having the guess work taken out of the whole dieting thing. The last time I was in a state of ketosis though I was heavily pregnant and ended up in hospital so that part doesn’t really appeal to me! Good Luck for this week. x
