What better excuse do you need to get out and enjoy this weather, than the fact it is National Picnic Week – 13th June to 21st June!
Unfortunately I have not been able to partake in National Picnic Week but that has certainly not stopped Liv from getting out and enjoying eating al fresco. Lounging on a comfortable, very fleecy 1.4 tog Heat Holders blanket (review here) that was recently sent to us so that we could enjoy picnics outside, Liv certainly made the most of her dinner last night, complete with teddy bears and the dog! The Heat Holders socks were a lovely addition and a treat for me, which totally made up for the fact I was not able to join in!
I love finger foods for picnics, picky treats that require literally no preparation but taste absolutely divine. It would be lovely to have the patience to make fruit kebabs and make everything look pretty but when hunger pangs strike, there is no time!
National Picnic Week has reminded me that I need to find my picnic basket and dust it off, in preparation for the Race For Life next month. It will be nice to chill out in Heaton Park, lounging on the Heat Holders blanket and get my breath back whilst we all tuck into a lovely picnic to celebrate crossing the finishing line. Albeit the weather has been with us this week, I am just hoping it is equally as kind on the day!
One of my favourite picnic treats is smoke salmon, healthy and nutritious alongside being extremely tasty. Paired with Nairns Oat Crackers and horseradish, it really is the perfect picnic treat.
I recently bought some picnic treats from Sainsburys and froze them ready. Totally not in keeping with the diet and refeed but knowing that there will be a spinach and feta parcel with my name on it at the end of the 5k run will spur me on!
Are you going to enjoy a picnic for National Picnic Week? What will you be packing in the picnic?
