Baking Up A Storm Over Half Term

by S1m

With the Half Term school holidays upon us, baking is always a top activity to involve everyone with the process and then the tasting session afterwards!

House of Fraser recently sent me this rather awesome MasterClass Bakeware Set from their rather extensive baking accessories range. It contains everything I need to start baking properly… I cannot guarantee great results but Mini Me and I shall certainly try our best! For me… it contains a baking tray, which quite frankly, you can never have enough of! The set is currently reduced from £70 down to £28 too which makes it an absolute bargain set!

Ignore the sticker… it has been reduced further on the website!

Lemon Cake is my absolute weakness, if there is ever any on offer, I am straight in there. If anyone ever needs to win me over or bribe me, then simply give me lemon cake… which one potential suitor did recently. He baked a brick of a lemon cake and I returned home with half of it to accompany several cups of tea. Mini Me was in her element, as was I. Alas, unfortunately lemon cake was not enough to bridge a rather ludicrous distance.

Thanks for the yummy cake Navy Matt 😉

Baking is something I really should do more of with Mini Me, especially with the set. It is a bonding activity that I used to love, baking most with my Grandparents when I was growing up.

Watching the Great British Bake Off always gives me grand plans of what I would love to make. The cake isn’t the problem, it’s all the icing afterwards, I just do not have the patience to be so intricate… in all honesty, there is cake in front of you… wouldn’t you rather just eat it?

I need to start looking for recipes Mini Me and I can make together – starting with this wonderful Vegetarian Rocky Road recipe featured on The Brick Castle. Simple, easy to make, delicious and it’s made from chocolate! What better recipe to start with!

That cookware looks great, I particularly like the cake pan – excellent value. You can get some nice bargains at HOF 🙂

It is a beast of a set, perfect for any baker – I’ve never had an actual cake tin with the moveable bottom before… I feel all Mary Berry like! 😉 xx
