I’ve taken my time writing my BlogOn Xmas post and my thoughts, simply because there was so much to digest about the fabulous weekend at Hotel Football that brought so many bloggers together in the same place!
What Made My BlogOn Xmas Weekend So Awesome?
The weekend kicked off with a fantastic pre-warm up party at the Old Trafford Supporters Bar in Hotel Football, which was sponsored by the lovely people at Paladone. What a night it was too – tables featured different games from the Paladone range and booth was all about Mind Reader. A fabulous party game that involved guessing what film or character others had written in the thought bubble placed on top of your head. Include booze and you are in for a raucous party game that will keep you and your friends (thanks Jane!) entertained for hours!
Whilst bloggers made their way to Hotel Football, situated opposite Old Trafford (not the greatest venue when you are a Chelsea fan!), Jenny and I were preparing ourselves to check everyone into the conference – with Eileen very kindly bringing us hot drinks and sausage and eggs butties to keep us fuelled!
My personal experience of the BlogOn Xmas conference will differ slightly to most as I didn’t attend any sessions, I know I am a rebel! However having blogged for the last 7 and a bit years conferences are now my opportunity to catch up with blogger friends I have not seen in a while as opposed to learning new tricks of the trade. It also gives me the opportunity to make new friends such as Sam and Sarah who I hope will be returning to the May BlogOn… I expect to see you there ladies!
The conference is inclusive and I hope that everyone feels they got the best of the weekend, whilst learning new blogging related skills, having fun and meeting new friends… alongside being part of the greatest lift selfie in the world!
The brand den, based downstairs in the OTSC (-1 in the lift!) was fantastic and had a Christmas marketplace feel with the tents and twinkly lights and everyone was so friendly! With lots of competitions to be entered such as the Smoking Gun PR ‘Generation Game’ – despite Jen and I tying on a rather impressive score of 11 items remembered, we didn’t win… however I did win a rather awesome Mi Mic from the rather lovely Julie at the Pitilla PR stand! Julie’s stand was situated next to Lianne from Bertelli Communications who is a BlogOn regular – I love these ladies, they are hilarious and I hope everyone got to meet them. They both have a wonderful array of clients in the toy industry and are awesome to work with on the blogger front!
I felt the Brand Den worked really well, despite being a little dark yet there was much more space than normal to mingle and chat with lovely PR’s about blog ideas and potential reviews. There was so much inspiration for my Christmas Gift Guide including this little dude…
Fingerlings are going to be so popular this Christmas and I instantly fell in love! I had skimmed over Fingerlings in the Smyths catalogue as simply a monkey that sits on your finger, what is the fuss? In reality though the monkey is interactive and responds accordingly to your voice, even shaking his head when being told to sleep! The gorgeous Ane from Wire PR very kindly gave me our very own purple monkey to bring home which Mini Me loves and will be included in our Gift Guide round up.
I also got to spend some time with the stunning Alison from PlayTime PR whilst checking out products from the awesome range of clients they look after. This cutie jumped in my arms as soon as I sat down – part of the cuddly Posh Paws International TsumTsum range and was a great talking point, even with The Grinch when he finally came and joined us!
Thanks to Jennifer for capturing the moment! A huge thanks to Simon from Snopake, I am constantly using my purple gel pen for everything, no more black writing, it’s all purple! Has anyone else noticed how amazing the pens are to write with?
The day was awesome. Yes, there were teething problems with the new venue, but there always will be and it only added to the excitement of the day! Laura excelled herself by putting on the most fantastic BlogOn event so far. It’s always exciting to watch everything come together over the time it takes to prepare for the weekend event and it’s always somewhat sad and anti-climatic when the BlogOn weekend is over… but that’s ok, as it means that we have BlogOn May to look forward to in 2018! It will be here sooner than you think!
