4 Things That Could Be Causing You To Breakout

Everyone dreams of having clear, model-worthy skin, but, unfortunately, this is very rarely accomplished. Unfortunately, acne affects up to 60 million Americans, so if you’re one of the 50 million, then you’re certainly not alone. However, that thought doesn’t make you feel much better when you wake up in the morning and see a bright red pimple in the center of your forehead. When this happens, you are often left wondering “why does this always happen to me?”, but the answer could be something fairly obvious. There are a lot of things that you could be doing that are triggering your acne, so if you are a sufferer of regular breakouts, then keep reading.

  1. You Don’t Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Lots of people use their makeup brushes every single day, without even thinking about what it is that they’re actually putting on their face. Every time you use your makeup brushes, you are applying dust, dead skin, and oil to your skin, all which block your pores, and result in spots. They are also riddled with bacteria, which doesn’t do much for your complexion either. The simply way to avoid this is to clean your makeup brushes regularly. The Stylpro, a makeup brush cleaner, is perfect for this job and makes it simple and stress-free.

  1. You Smoke

Every single time you smoke a cigarette, you break down collagen and elastin in the skin on your face, which not only leads to wrinkles but increase pore size too. This makes it easier for dirt, oil, and bacteria to get into your pores and block them, thus increasing acne. Smoking can also dry out your skin, which triggers it to produce more oil, thus blocking your pores more. The only way to avoid this is to stop smoking. It won’t be easy, but your skin (and the rest of your body) will thank you for it.

  1. You’re Stressed

You might have noticed that whenever you’re stressed, you tend to wake up in the morning with a spot, which makes you more stressed, so you wake up the next day with another spot. This vicious cycle is because stress increases levels of hormones that trigger the production of oil, so your pores get clogged. To stop this, you need to learn to control your stress. Exercise and meditation are great places to start.

  1. You Exfoliate Too Much

It’s a common misconception that scrubbing your skin to within an inch of its life will decrease oil levels and therefore reduce the likelihood of you breaking out. Unfortunately, this only dries out your skin, thus triggering more oil production. It also spreads bacteria from your spots all over your face, so the acne spreads. Avoid scrubbing your face, exfoliate twice a week at the very most, and remember to moisturize.

You can’t cover your skin like the rest of your body, so it’s important to take care of it, or it will fight back. Acne isn’t fun, but if you follow the advice above, you might be able to get a handle on it.
