I do not know about you, but how tiring are the Christmas and New Year festivities? With all the decorations now tidied away, it’s almost as if it never happened!

The part season can take its toll on your body, with excess eating and drinking playing a huge factor in why the New Year is such a popular time to reinvent yourself. Here are some tips on how you can beat the January blues and give your body the healthy kick start it may need this New Year…

Be more active

Whether you take advantage of one of the many gym membership offers currently available, start running or even go on walks, you will notice the benefits of being more active. Any overindulgence in Christmas delights can easily be worked off and it’s a great start to whatever your health goal may be for the year. I am very much looking forward to getting back out on daily walks with friends, getting out in the fresh air is wonderful and relaxing.

Clear out your fridge

I am sure I am not the only one who is guilty of stockpiling Christmas food like I will never lay eyes upon it again, however it does mean I have a well stocked treat cupboard right now which is not helping the kick start! Fortunately, best before dates are well into the year so the treats can be eaten later in the year and friends have been gifted pretzels on occasion over the festive period in order to limit temptation! If you are looking to head on a weight loss journey for 2018, then expect your fridge to be very green! I know I am looking forward to jumping back into the Keto lifestyle and enjoying bacon and scrambled eggs with spinach for breakfast to fuel my day!

Rest your eyes

Take time away from technology and glaring screens… basically put down your phone and take time away from Candy Crush to help rest your eyes! Screen time can take its toll on your eyes and as a blogger who spends a lot of time staring at one screen or another straining your eyes is not good! I’ve noticed my eyes feeling more tired recently and have been using eye drops to ease the pressure and to hydrate my eyes. Make sleep a priority

Sleep is fundamental to your overall wellbeing and health and without enough sleep, we can find ourselves to be very grumpy indeed. Switching off and going to bed slightly earlier may help in achieving more sleep, however if you find yourself struggling to nod off, leave your phone to one side as the glare of the screen affects your retinas and can actually keep you awake longer. Drink more water

Not only does drinking plenty of water per day help to flush toxins out of your body and keep your eyes and body re-hydrated, it also helps to improve the appearance of your skin, especially in this harsh weather. You will notice an increase in energy, weight loss occurs faster when you drink more water as opposed to carbonated drinks, alcohol and caffeine based drinks and it helps to boost your immune system… what’s not to love about a glass of water!

Love this Sim! Thanks so much for linking to #pocolo – I totally hear you with all this. I have, just today, got back to doing exercise. I did my 30 minutes this morning and I feel so much better. I drank water during and after my exercise and I have NO DOUBT I will sleep well tonight! The contact lens thing isn’t a bad idea – if you can – I always hated wearing glasses. 🙂
