How A Family Wedding Affected My Keto Journey

The last weekend seems to have flown past at breakneck speed and I am trying to catch up on myself. Having synced my phone with the laptop, I am finally going through all the photos taken at the family wedding we attended in Sheffield on Saturday.

Knowing that the traffic from Manchester to Sheffield can be a hellish, especially when travelling through Mottram and Glossop, we had set off in plenty of time and still it wasn’t good enough! We hadn’t banked on a Kingsmill lorry breaking down and police having to guide the miles of traffic through… I’m pretty sure as the sun blistered down, they hadn’t banked on it either!

We raced to a local pub we have visited previously and did our best Superman impression, changing into our dresses in the blink of an eye – thankfully we had travelled in comfies as the two hour journey would have creased our wedding attire to buggery!

Wedding Tapton Hall

Tapton Hall is somewhere I have never been, who knew it was nestled away in the tops of Sheffield… such a stunning venue for weddings and parties, the weather being on our side meant awesome outdoor pictures!

it was fantastic to see family I have not seen in a while and also meet family I have never even met before, with Liv getting the chance to meet her Great-Great Aunt!

The ceremony was perfect and the bride (my cousin) couldn’t have look any more gorgeous than she did – having also arrived in a 51 year old VW campervan, complete with a shag pile carpet!

I had been strict following the Keto lifestyle in the week running up to the wedding. It did help having an incentive dress to get into – not something you see me in often! It did mean on the day I could let loose a little and with an Afternoon Tea served after the ceremony, I had no choice! The sandwiches and scones had never tasted as scrumptious, especially when I realised I hadn’t eaten bread in two and a half months!

It was a total carb overload day as hog roast muffins with lashings of stuffing and apple sauce were offered at the evening reception… 😉

There wasn’t enough time to take pictures of the food, as you can imagine my scone disappeared in record time, but I did manage to take pictures of the cakes, including a super yummy rice crispy and marshmallow cake for younger guests.

With the weekend now a distant memory, I am finding myself back on Keto and trying to get back into the swing of things again. The first few days are always the worst when your body realises that you are rationing sugar and carbs again but a break from it also made me realise how much I enjoy the lifestyle.

Are you set to attend any weddings this year?

My wedding dress was similar to this bride’s, being tea length, glad to see that they are still current, as it is my silver anniversary next week #pocolo
