Have This Year’s Must Have Toys For Christmas Surprised You?

must have toys for Christmas title

Organised people will certainly have most Christmas presents sorted and ready to go, some even being so prepared to have stocked up months ago. Others will be waiting for the Black Friday sale which typically starts on the 23rd November, but stores have cottoned on and started their sales earlier this year, with Amazon starting their Black Friday sale tomorrow.

This week though, all eyes were on the results of the DreamToys annual Must Have Toys For Christmas list, which features the top 12 toys (in no particular order):

Barbie Ultimate Kitchen – £44.99
Boxer The Robot – £79.99
Cra-Z-Slimy Creation Super Slime Studio – £29.99
Fingerlings Untamed Jailbreak T-Rex Playset – £24.99
Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall LEGO – £89.99
Harry Potter Wizard Training Wand – £24.99
LOL Surprise! Pop Up Store – £39.99
LOL Surprise! Under Wraps – £14.99
Laser X Twin Pack – £49.99
Monopoly Fortnite Edition – £21.99
Paw Patrol Ultimate Fire Truck – £69.99
Poopsie Surprise Unicorn – £49.99

How do I feel about this list? Meh!

It’s totally a child’s choice what they ask Father Christmas for on their present list, but it’s parents who have to cough up for the gifts! There is a nice selection of reasonably priced large gifts on there and it’s no surprise the LOL Surprise! features. I think the only surprise adults will get from it is how much they have actually been ripped off! Still, you cannot put a price on your child’s happiness and the largest smiles when they open the wrapping paper to be faced with their present.

It’s lovely to see Boxer on the list, though this was never in any doubt. The super cute little robot dude will certainly keep everyone entertained well after Christmas, Boxer also featured in the Sim’s Life Christmas Toys recommendations too. You can check out the post here.

The Christmas Gift Guide has featured a lot of gift inspiration, from toys and gadgets we like, to those that have been played with endlessly. We are huge advocates of ZURU Toys in our house, Liv being a slime connoisseur favours ZURU Oosh Slime and Oosh Putty above all others!

For us, these make the best stocking fillers… NOT Moj Moj! I guarantee your child will have either broken them, got dirt on them or got fed up with them within 5 minutes. The ZURU Toys slime tubs however, last absolutely ages… and better still, you don’t have to make it yourself! Seriously, get down to Home Bargains, they have lots of the Oosh Slime and Putty in at the moment. The image above is Liv’s recent slime haul from the store! Look out for ZURU toys in B&M too – I have noticed Tangle, Oosh Slime and Rainbocorns in there too.

Rainbocorns… now, albeit mentioned in a must have toys for Christmas category, the super cute and vibrantly coloured plush toys that you hatch out of a bright pink Uncorn egg didn’t feature on the Top Toys list. They were robbed, robbed I tell you! Have you seen the face below? That is one seriously happy, almost 10 year old girl with a crazy coloured soft plush… she could not be any happier! You can check out our unhatching post here.

Each to their own, these are clearly my own opinions after years of testing toys with Liv. She is getting older now, but for younger children, the sparkles of LOL Surprise! and the like will be the best gift ever! If you are still looking for gift inspiration, check out the Sim’s Life Christmas Gift Guide for some cracking ideas!

If you are looking to buy any items featured in the DreamToys, then definitely shop around as bargain prices are there to be had, especially in the run up to Black Friday sales!

I have to say I’m not very impressed this year. I feel there’s a lot there that is very shallow and faddy, and not enough good substantial fun that children can get their teeth and imagination into.

Exactly this! The list just doesn’t seem to be impressive this year. I totally agree with Boxer though. So many fantastic toys out there that will last beyond Christmas x

Think I’m just surprised by slime sneaking in but then again it is pretty cool and you can’t argue with children

This is a good list. I am not familiar with some of those. I will have to check them out. #pocolo

My three are older now, but I think the lego and the slime would have appealed to them. The robot looks cute too, but I wonder how long some of these toys will be played with.#PoCoLo

great gift ideas and always good to know what’s on trend every year. As I live in Dubai, my christmas shopping was done over the summer and left with my mum to hand out nearer the time. My kids have all grown up and left home now, I never had the pressure on me in the same way modern parents do with all thats available #pocolo

I’ve no idea what many of these gifts are but I couldn’t help but skim down the prices, and hmmn it’s big bucks isn’t it – and I’m sure retailers would do almost anything to get on a list like this. Thanks for sharing with #PoCoLo

Some are quite shocking! :/ That is the ultimate list to appear on, but I cannot say it has me jumping for joy this year x

I think LP would like the Fortnite Monopoly but apart from that there’s not really anything on the list I recognise.
