After celebrating my birthday last year dining on an Afternoon Tea with a lovely friend, I decided it would become an annual tradition. What better way to celebrate your special day than eating delicious cake… it sounds divine and that is exactly what we did!
I had been following a local Italian baker who makes the most amazing celebration cakes and was over the moon when she featured a stunning Afternoon Tea and my decision was made… because what could be better than enjoy lots of yummy cake in your PJ’s?
Several messages later regarding the cakes to be included in the spread and the day finally arrived for collection. I was absolutely taken aback by how beautifully decorated the cakes were… Birthday Afternoon Tea is the most awesome tradition!
All the cakes were absolutely divine and very moreish – the handmade meringues were a fantastic inclusion but the Bigne… oh my! Think along the lines of a large profiterole, the cream filled puffy Italian cake was unbelievably light and tasty and my first foray into Italian cream cakes… and not my last!
I enjoyed my break off Keto, but by heck did I pay for the tasty, sugary overload! Alas, I am fully back into the swing of the Keto lifestyle now, but grateful of the slight intermission.
It was a lovely weekend that flew by far too quickly for my liking. I guess when you reach my age anything you want or need you buy as and when. Which makes present idea requests a little harder. This year I was absolutely clueless until I strolled into Aldi and checked out the special buys. This time of year is always great for stocking up on fitness related items and I soon found myself with a 10kg weight bag in my trolley. Birthday present sorted!
With 5 strategically placed handles, there are numerous exercises to be attempted with the weight bag. Having missed weight training at the gym, it will be great to at least do ‘something’ at home and get back into some sort of routine. Especially after ‘cake-gate’, it’s onwards and downwards with strict Keto!
It was totally all worth it though and now, as I type this post, I am watching the snow fall and stick, grateful that it waited for me to have my birthday before spoiling the next week, but wishing I still had cake to eat! Am I the only one who hates the snow?
