Avocados are an absolute staple when following the Keto Lifestyle – they are super yummy, versatile and also a great source of fat when you need to ‘up your Keto macros.

If you are a fan of avocado on toast, you may well miss the toast part immensely when embarking on a low carb diet, however there are many ways in which you can still utilise this particular fruit.
Personally, I love to combine avocado with a prawn mayonnaise salad, totally refreshing and a really good fat high/moderate protein/low carb balanced meal.

It can be hard to get to grips to avocado, knowing when it is ripe and ready to eat and what to actually make with it, so I will be showing you possibly one of the easiest and yummiest avocado recipes to make that is a fabulous Keto treat!
Easy To Make Keto Guacamole Recipe
Homemade Guacamole Ingredients
4 x medium to large sized avocados (M&S Food currently have a pack of two on offer at 65p during July!)
1 x lime
Fresh coriander
1 x pack of bacon lardons
1 x tablespoon of unsalted butter to fry the bacon lardons
Homemade Guacamole Method
- Cut, remove the pip and scoop out 4 avocados into a bowl and squash with a potato masher.
- Place butter in a frying pan and cook the bacon lardons until they start to crisp.
- Drain the lardons and place in the bowl with the avocado.
- Cut a lime in half and squeeze all the juice into the bowl.
- Chop up some fresh coriander and sprinkle onto the ingredients.
- Mix the ingredients together and feel free to season with a little Pink Himalayan Salt and/or Pepper.
- Serve!
I add bacon lardons into my homemade Keto guacamole to give it a crunchier texture, however there are many combinations to be made! Another idea is chopped onions and chopped cherry tomatoes, with the option of including bacon lardons or not. By adding extra ingredients to the avocado base you help to bulk up the side and make it into a really yummy dish.
Homemade Guacamole Serving Suggestion
The perfect picnic treat, I find that rashers of unsmoked streaky bacon when crisped up make for the perfect dippers. Don’t worry about leftovers, simply store in a fridge overnight and enjoy again the next day! It’s a really easy and inexpensive side dish to make, a total crowd pleaser for any picnic this summer! I served mine in gorgeous Vie Gourmet Coconut Bowls!
That looks really tasty and such a nice snack too xx
