Family Breakfast time can sometimes feel rushed when you have to get ready for a school run and work, however Liv and I always take this time to chill together over a family breakfast and chat about what our day will have in store.

Whilst I may start my days off with a very large mug of black coffee, I always ensure that Liv enjoys a balanced breakfast. Our routine is somewhat set in stone now, we are both creatures of habit with what we eat and drink, but still enjoy our time together before the rush of the day begins.
Recently we have been putting nutella’s theory that a Happy Portion of family time at breakfast will set you up for a positive start to the day ahead and increase family bonding. So how can you turn the selection of breakfast suggestions below into something even tastier?
Start Your Day The Right Way With Family Breakfast Time And Nutella
Just one heaped teaspoon of nutella (15g, 80kcal) alongside your chosen breakfast item is enough to put a smile on any face!
With the colder weather starting to settle in and illnesses already making their rounds, I am all for a hot breakfast to kick start the day. Toast, crumpets and the occasional potato cake (we are Northern!) are a great way to warm the cockles and keep you motivated until lunchtime. With Year 6 being such an important school year, I am conscious that Liv needs quality time together to have a good start to the day. Talking about her work and how she is feeling is also super important! As a single parent family, we have always been able to discuss anything and are fortunate to share a very strong bond.Which is how I knew Liv would choose toast as her preferred option to have with her topping of nutella! The strawberries were a given too!
The strawberries were a given too! Fruit is something I never deny Liv having and she has free reign on and she is able to snack on the selection I stock up weekly – just so long as she leaves some strawberries for me too!
Now, whilst our family breakfast starts like this – all smiles with a yummy and healthy breakfast (and large mug of coffee)…
Someone is clearly enjoying their #nutellaHappyPortion!
Breakfast for me as a youngster was mostly cereal based, whilst my mum would always be bustling in the kitchen, with Manchester based radio station Key 103 on in the background. Breakfasts these days are a much more informal affair, but always spent together, with Liv having a more varied choice on what she would like to eat. We love to enjoy a tasty portion of one heaped teaspoon of nutella on toast and crumpets, but also on top of porridge or fruit.

Awww I love that photo of you guys at the end. 😀 Also love Nutella – we get through quite a lot in our house between us. I like a cheeky nutella sandwich in th evening – but I always have a chat with the boys in the morning too 😀
Awww thanks chick! I do love a piece of nutella and toast, but I am bowled over by a nutella hot chocolate, I need to try this! Family time in the morning with a good chat is a great way to start the day!x
My kids love Nutella. That is a really good amount of calories for a teaspoon. We aren’t big breakfast fans, but I should get more onto this. xx
It is rather yummy and yes, the calorie content did reassure me! I was also informed of a fabulous idea – making hot chocolate with nutella… this is a game changer for Winter! 🙂 x
We all enjoy a bit of Nutella in this house #pocolo
nutella puts smiles on faces old and young, it is definitely a great way to start the day! 🙂 x
I love Nutella, but I could eat a whole jar in one sitting. So I don’t buy it any more. Thank being said, if I see it in small portion packs on holiday I always have it! #PoCoLo
