my blogging goals for 2020

Happy Friday all!

Well, the first week back in work after the Christmas and New Year break has been fun, hey? Talk about hitting the ground running! Whilst we all needed that break over the festive season, I also need to get back to a routine as much as Liv did. Neither of us are particularly happy about the 7.23am wake up and school run each morning, but it’s nice to get back into the flow.

alarm clock wake up

I’ve certainly had an easier week than the Royal Family though – is anyone else cracking out a deck chair, heating up some popcorn and relaxing back whilst it all unfolds? What a start to the new decade!

The beginning of 2020 was a little less bumpy for me and it was great to start the year by writing my 2019 highlights post, it made me realise how much I do love blogging and how fortunate Liv and I are! It may seem that I have not been featuring many posts recently but rest assured, I am working like a blue assed fly behind the scenes! You may not always notice the little changes with Sim’s Life, but I assure you they are always happening.

Many may think that blogging is simply staring at a blank screen and making words appear, but they could not be anymore wrong. The hours that go into image and video editing, SEO, website design, scrolling back through old posts etc is endless. I hadn’t realised I am bordering on 1500 posts featured on Sim’s Life… that’s a whole lot of combing through old work and sprucing it up a little. Given I also work on Manchester Mummy and Travel Guide Blog too, it’s amazing I get 30 minutes to watch Emmerdale each day!

My blogging goals for 2020

What are my goals for 2020?

I am trying to be more organised this year with my blogging work by:

  • responding to emails a little quicker than I used to.
  • to say yes to more events – eagerly awaits emails and responds (check first point!)
  • to actually learn to use SEO properly – something I should have done sooner!
  • concentrating on socials – I had let these slide a little. (You can follow me at: Twitter / Facebook / Instagram)
  • writing info down in one place – I have a terrible habit of writing on the backs of envelopes and then losing them!
  • writing more personal posts – I always have far too much to say, I am sure you want to hear it too! πŸ˜‰
  • featuring more Keto posts and recipes – I have such an exciting idea, I just need to find an item to help me first.
  • read more books – I read so much online content, that I cannot recall the last time I picked up a book.
  • and much more that I cannot remember at the moment.

I am totally loving this New Year buzz… check in with me next month to see if I am still feeling as energised!
What are your plans for the New Year? Do you have any goals for the year?

Check out my Keto Recipes so far!

I’m working hard to keep everything in one place – my Sostrene Green massive diary is great for it. It’s not tidy, but at least I’m writing everything on the same page and not losing it πŸ˜€

S1m January 10, 2020 at 1:13 pm

I wouldn’t mind, I do have a work diary, I just have a terrible habit of reaching for the first thing to write on! πŸ˜‰ I will learn this year to be more organised! πŸ™‚ x

Happy New Year and good luck with all your 2020 blogging goals; I think we all should reassess what we’re doing to make it even better.

S1m January 11, 2020 at 3:22 pm

Happy New Year to you too! πŸ™‚ Thank you, I hope I can keep pushing through with them, tick them off and then add more! Blogging is a constant, it never truly stops needing to be assessed, but that certainly keeps us on our toes!x

A Little Lyrical January 11, 2020 at 7:21 am

Good luck with your goals this year! I really need to focus more like this and have some goals at least then I would be able to achieve something

S1m January 11, 2020 at 3:20 pm

Thank you lovely – another goal is to see you guys more too! Mini goals are so much more achievable than heading straight into a full year long resolution!x

Nicola January 15, 2020 at 8:56 am

Happy New Year and good luck with achieveing all of your 2020 goals. I agree the whole royal family drama is really something else isn’t it?

S1m January 15, 2020 at 10:39 am

Happy New Year to you also – hard to believe we are half way through January! :/
Drama? It’s better than any soap on TV right now! πŸ˜‰ x

Kacie Morgan January 15, 2020 at 2:12 pm

I don’t usually set blogging goals for the year but I kinda have this year, although they’re not physically written down as such. I am hoping to hit 10k Instagram followers (almost there :)) and increase my traffic to Mediavine levels.

Laurie Harmon January 15, 2020 at 4:36 pm

Thank you. I am having a bit of brain overwhelm and reading your post helped me see some of my own desires more clearly!

S1m January 15, 2020 at 8:47 pm

Blogging can be seriously overwhelming, there is always something to do/check on/write/edit etc – write down everything you want to do and go from there!

Maria Yakimchuk January 15, 2020 at 5:01 pm

Great goals for a productive year. This is my 3rd year blogging and I’m not nearly as far into this as I would like (limited time to work on it) and I have not tried setting any specific blogging goals yet. But I definitely feel you on the SEO part. I need to get on that as well.

S1m January 15, 2020 at 8:45 pm

Thank you so much! πŸ™‚ I am a few years ahead of you and only wish I had concentrated on SEO much sooner!!! My top tip for you – get on top of it now, it will make it easier for when you are another 3 years down the line!

Cyndi Buchanan January 15, 2020 at 5:48 pm

We have been off to a busy start this year. I haven’t even had time to sit down and write out my goals. That is my goal before the end of the week.

S1m January 15, 2020 at 8:43 pm

I love the fact your goal this week is to write out your goals! πŸ™‚ To be honest, I am with you, it has been such a busy month and I cannot believe we are already half way through January – this year is going to fly by!

Shannah January 15, 2020 at 7:22 pm

Omg I’m always writing things down on envelopes too! I want to be more organized and digital in my notes so if just someone would take all my notes and organize them for me that would be great!

S1m January 15, 2020 at 8:42 pm

LOL! I am glad it isn’t just me! πŸ˜‰ I would love to make the move to making digital notes but I am too traditional, love scribbling down notes and fortunately am sticking to writing in my diary so far!

Kelly| Citytoast2southerntea January 15, 2020 at 7:34 pm

This is great to see someone elses blogging goals. I dont feel like I am that much behind. Thanks for sharing.

S1m January 15, 2020 at 8:41 pm

I decided I definitely needed blogging goals this year. Something to stick to and I seem to be getting on ok at the moment! Hope you get on well with you goals too!

Rebecca Smith January 15, 2020 at 10:00 pm

These are some great goals to have for 2020! I’ll definitely be checking out your keto posts, it is something we have been considering doing.

S1m January 15, 2020 at 10:08 pm

Awww thank you! I shall be adding more Keto posts in the coming weeks – the lifestyle is fab and not as hard as people think it is. Just wish I had found it sooner!x

Yeah Lifestyle January 16, 2020 at 12:48 pm

I find writing down goals and resolutions means you have a place to go to and check your progress as the months go along. Good luck hope you achieve all of it

Kacie Morgan January 16, 2020 at 12:50 pm

It sounds like you’ve set some realistic and achievable goals πŸ™‚ I started paying attention to SEO around a year and a half ago and I’m really starting to see the benefits of it now.

Melanie williams January 16, 2020 at 2:14 pm

Happy New Year to you too. All your goals seem on point and I am sure you will do well and get to more events too – have fun blogging x

Ceci Rey January 16, 2020 at 5:22 pm

I share the same goals as you do for blogging…good luck to both of us!

S1m January 17, 2020 at 1:30 pm

Good luck to both of us for 2020 indeed! It’s all going ok at the moment, long may it continue!x

Rhian westbury January 16, 2020 at 6:50 pm

My plans for this year are mainly around our house buying/ move which will be happening in the next month or so as we want to do quite a lot of renovations and things before we move in x

MELANIE EDJOURIAN January 16, 2020 at 7:31 pm

Ha, I need to learn how to use SEO properly too. Totally clueless here. Great goals, I’m also planning on pushing socials more. It can be very time consuming though.

Bella and Dawn at Dear Mummy Blog January 16, 2020 at 7:52 pm

Saying yes to more events and experiences sounds like a good idea to us! We’re not organised at all and could do with taking a leaf out of your book!

S1m January 17, 2020 at 1:29 pm

I am trying to remain organised, everything is going ok at the moment, just need to keep it up! Definitely say yes to more events if you can, got to take hold of those experiences!x

Drea Evans January 16, 2020 at 8:04 pm

Those are great goals. Can’t wait to follow your journey.

S1m January 17, 2020 at 1:26 pm

Thank you so much – I am continuing to crack on with them throughout the year!

Charli January 17, 2020 at 11:41 am

Happy New Year! These sounds like great blogging goals. I definitely need to be better at responding to emails … even if it is just to say no rather than receive 20 follow up emails from a pesky PR wanting irrelevant backlinks!
C x

S1m January 17, 2020 at 1:23 pm

Happy New Year to you too! πŸ™‚ Playing email tennis is an absolute pain, hoping to nip those emails in the bud this year too! I only wish I could invoice for time wasting! πŸ˜‰ x

sarah January 17, 2020 at 6:29 pm

These all sounds like great goals to help build your blog

Anosa January 18, 2020 at 3:45 am

These are all great goals for the new year and new decade, Christmas feels way too far now but it was a nice break indeed. I am upping my reading game too.

Kara Guppy January 18, 2020 at 7:13 pm

One of my resolutions is to keep on top of my emails too, they always seem to get out of hand

S1m January 18, 2020 at 7:22 pm

Don’t they just!!! Glad it isn’t just me! πŸ™ I totally lose the energy and enthusiasm to respond too and then end up bulk responding which feels like a task and a half! Need to just respond when they come through. :/

Rachael January 18, 2020 at 8:03 pm

These are great goals, I’m the same with SEO. I really need to get my bum into gear and sort it out!

S1m January 20, 2020 at 9:17 am

SEO is a never ending vicious cycle, but keep on top of it and you have just made your life a lot easier! πŸ˜‰

Janet Robertson-Peverley January 19, 2020 at 11:13 pm

It is always such a good idea to start the year with some real positive aspirations. I love your attitude, and could really do with taking heed and doing something similar. It feels a bit like things have started off crazy and I need to get a grip of them.

S1m January 20, 2020 at 9:13 am

I am the same! Love to procrastinate but then that just increases the workload! :/
Setting blogging goals really does help to keep you on track, whether it will last is yet to be seen! πŸ˜‰

Kira January 21, 2020 at 12:38 pm

Some really great goals for year. Definitely agree with you on reading more books. I’m desperate to start taking more time out to read

S1m January 27, 2020 at 10:49 am

Me too! I still haven’t found time yet though and have a very long list of book recommendations I really need to start on! :/ x

Karen Langridge February 7, 2020 at 3:59 pm

Great goals, I am feeling inspired this year, I have starting sorting out my old blog posts, some of them are so bad in terms of SEO!

S1m February 10, 2020 at 1:20 pm

Awww thanks chick! I am trying to plod on as best I can but seriously wish I had taken more note of SEO back in the day! It feels like an uphill struggle now and we can do it! πŸ™‚ x
