Project 366 – Week 22

Project 366 - Week 22

Welcome to Project 366 – Week 22 and my round up of what Liv and I have been up to this week!

Yet another week of lockdown, I’m totally lost on the number of weeks or days it has been since we experienced ‘normal life’, but with lockdown slowly starting to ease from Monday, life seems to be on the move again. What have we been up to this past week though? Read on to find out what has been happening!

A day of rest.

We FINALLY finished our 500 piece jigsaw, with only one missing piece! I’ve never really enjoyed piecing jigsaws together before, however Liv and I have really got into this as a fun, family activity and now I am on the scavenge for more!
We also finished our marathon binge watch of Schitt’s Creek which we have really enjoyed watching. It’s always sad when a good series that you enjoyed comes to an end, so we are now looking for more recommendations! I’ve started to watch SnowPiercer on Netflix, but I have to wait a week for the next episode – I’m far to impatient and I’m quite enjoying it. Come on Netflix, give me something good to binge watch!

The heating element in my oven decided to give up just as I was turning around to place the dish with my beef joint in the oven. Can you believe the timing! The last time it went was on Christmas Eve a few years ago, maybe I’m cursed when it comes to cooking beef! The day was saved by a lovely neighbour who cooked my joint for me (we socially distanced) and it gave us the opportunity to have a natter on her drive! I also featured an awesome giveaway to win a BLOPens Rainbow set on Sim’s Life today!

The weather is certainly helping to lift spirits as we get to spend more time in the garden to relax. Seeing the garden starting to bloom for summer is rather uplifting, with me capturing this snap of the yellow Iris (below) in my garden starting to peep out (the shot was photobombed by a bee!) on Wednesday. I cannot wait for the purple Iris to bloom, the colours always look so beautiful and vibrant next to each other. The Iris plants survive for the fact I just leave them to it!

Keto is still in full swing and I’ve been sticking to meat and salad for my one meal a day, following my own intermittent fasting routine and I’m glad it was easier to fall back into than expected.
We haven’t been baking cakes recently as that would be torture, however Betty Crocker came to the rescue again with Cookie Mix so Liv and I can easily make cookies for her to enjoy and me not to feel like I am missing out!

Today started with such a lovely delivery from Aldi. I check their Special Buys every so often, just in case there is anything I need (or want) at the moment and found their latest Harry Potter range! We now have a fabulous stock of material, but I could not refuse this Harry Potter material, it literally jumped into my online basket! Liv has a collection of Itty Bitty Harry Potter characters but someone was missing… this super cute Dobbie plush fits into her collection perfectly!Harry Potter material

The lovely Karen from Missing Sleep mentioned she as making a homemade lava lamp with her boys and it sounded like a great activity to do outside in the sunshine. With instructions to hand alongside an empty bottle, water, food colouring, oil and an effervescent tablet, we were ready to go and the results surprised us!

It really was so cool to watch and so easy to make! It’s a great activity to keep children entertained during lockdown with no mess created at all!

The weather is scorchio today, so I am signing off the end of our week to go and take advantage of the sunshine and topping up our Vitamin D tanks. Hope you have all had a lovely week!

It sounds like you had a great time doing the jigsaw.
Oh no! That is rubbish about your oven.
Ohh! I do love the Harry potter things. The Dobbie is so cute x

The lava lamp looks fun. Sorry to hear about your oven breaking down, but such a lovely neighbour to cook your beef for you. All my gardening is ‘if it can’t grow by itself then it’s not for my garden’

Love the lava lamp – I thought it looked cool when I saw it on Missing Sleep ! Love the Harry Potter stuff too – a great spot ! Sorry to hear about your oven, but very lucky you had a friendly neighbour to help out ! Have you managed to get it fixed now? If you lived closer, I have loads of puzzles that I’d happily dump on you. They’re taking up too much space !

What a lovely week you’ve had, ignoring the oven of course! I remember my Mum’s dying on Christmas eve before. It made christmas day interesting!

I love the lava lamp idea, I might have to give that a go x

Sarah MumofThree World May 31, 2020 at 6:36 pm

The lava lamp looks fantastic! Glad the keto is going well for you. I’m in awe of anyone who can eat only once a day. Six times a day for me. Possibly seven…
So many people have been enjoying jigsaws during lockdown. My mum lent us one, but I haven’t braved getting it out yet!

Sarah Bailey May 31, 2020 at 7:56 pm

Well done on finishing your jigsaw it has been way to long since I did anything like that! The cookies look delicious as well – I could just tuck into one right now.

Rebecca Smith May 31, 2020 at 10:38 pm

I definitely need to try making the homemade lava lamp – it looks so cool! Looks like you had a productive week.

amazing how crafting stuff just puts itself in your basket and pays for itself without any help what so ever. I could sell wool with the amount I have, not to mention cross stitch or quilting supplies
Glad you are enjoying together time doing jigsaws.

That missing piece blends in so well with the laminate flooring you almost can’t tell its not that! I think your lava lamp turned out even better! I think its the special fizzing tablets you had! With an extra kick lol. Good find on the fabric. You are doing so well with Keto, I am going to try and ease off the cake and chocolate this week. My waist needs less wobble.

The homemade lava lamp looks fab, I have a similar experiment to do with my kids. I bought some HP goodies with the Aldi special buys

I saw the DIY lava lamps on Stacey Soloman’s page as well and they looked so cool. That Harry Potter material is beautiful x

I haven’t done a jigsaw in years , well done!!! Looks like you’ve had a great week , minus the broken oven!! Love the lava lamp! The girls want one for their bedroom

That’s a cool puzzle. Watch Manifest; I’m not sure if it’s on Netflix but it’s an awesome show you can find easily. Cookies look delicious, but you can easily make delicious cakes and cookies from scratch, though. Dobby looks adorable. The homemade lava lamp sounds amazing!

The lava lamp looks fun. I need to give that a go with the kids. Looks and sounds fab. Sorry to hear about your oven breaking down, that is such a nightmare hon. What a lovely neighbour to cook your beef for you. I suck at gardening, I have no clue xxx

Well done on the jigsaw. Annoying about the oven. My sister’s went the other day too and she was devastated because the landlord said that it was difficult to get a repair person out at the moment – she’d been baking every day. I like the idea of the lava lamp.

Galina V June 5, 2020 at 10:55 pm

The jigsaw puzzle looks lovely, but what a shame about a missing last piece. Happened to me a couple of times in the past, so annoying.
Your lava lamp looks splendid, so colourful, I’ll ask my younger son if he wants to do it too. Sorry to hear about the oven, and it’s kind of your neighbour to help you.
Dobbie is super cute, and fabrics are pretty. What do you plan to do with them?

Louise (Little Hearts, Big Love) June 6, 2020 at 8:33 pm

Finishing a jigsaw is so satisfying. The yellow irises look so pretty. What rubbish timing for the heating element on your oven to go and how lovely that your neighbour helped out and you got your joint of beef. Love the Harry Potter fabric and the plush Dobby. The lava lamp sounds like a fun experiment to try. #project366

We have enjoyed Breaking Bad and now watching The Last Kingdom. My sister has recommended Orphan Black for our next choice. Love the puzzle scene and lava lamp! #project366

We started doing jigsaws at the start of lockdown and it was nice and relaxing…..need to get some more I think!

Oh no re the oven..always happens at inconvenient times.

Love the iris’s in the garden. I think I need to make a lava lamp with my youngest too!

Mudpie Fridays June 10, 2020 at 10:30 pm

I am so late with comments that I didn’t think that they would still have the fabric! But they do so thank you so much for mentioning it as I have a harry potter mad little boy and I am going to make him a quilt. Love the lava lamp I really want to give this a go x
