Project 366 Week 50 – It’s Almost Christmas

Project 366 Week 50 – It’s Almost Christmas

In last week’s Project 366 post I hadn’t even realised I stated week 39, clearly I was trying to back track on time. Though there is no denying it’s almost Christmas!

I’ve spent the majority of the week warm and snug in a onesie, I declare it is the only way to work! I’m low on on images this week as nothing has happened besides my weekly Aldi and Home Bargains trip out. Fun times! So what have we been up to this week?

Project 366 Week 50 – It’s Almost Christmas

School Life

We have been very fortunate that Liv hasn’t had to isolate from school this term. School seem to have it right and it’s working… they need to keep doing what they are doing! After school activities will take place next week so Liv will get the chance to play hockey once more before the end of the year. Odd how things are getting back to the ‘new normal’ just as we are breaking up for the holidays. Not so much of a holiday though considering all the exams and assessments she has as soon as she returns in January. Talk about hitting the ground running! Liv made flapjacks in school this week and the tray was half eaten by the time she returned home, the other half didn’t last long enough to take a picture sadly. However, it does mean she can make another!

Origami Christmas Star

Liv came home with this fabulous origami Christmas star from school eariler in the week. I’m grateful for the amazing range of lunch time and after school clubs she can take part in, something totally different. She will be heading to the Harry Potter club next week, I only wish I could join in!

Work Life

Work has been work, you can certainly tell that everything is starting to slow down for the holidays. I would say it’s nice to slow down a little, but no chance! There is always something to do on the site, no-one gets to see all the back-end work and maintenance that goes into blogging. If they did, it would probably put them off!

Home Life

The most daring we have been is an after Emmerdale trip to Tesco on Friday evening to have a wander round. It was quieter than expected and meant we actually had chance to have a good look at the Christmas treats and the offers available. We managed to pick up some super handy revision note cards, reduced to clear at ยฃ1 each. I certainly cannot argue with that, Liv just needs to use them now!

Yellow mix crochet blanket

Crocheting is going well and a new delivery of yarn arrived this week for a birthday blanket request. There is no chance of me stopping now! The blanket isn’t as yellow as it looks, unfortunately lighting isn’t on a blogger’s side at this time of year!

It has been seriously hard to stick to Keto, with so many fabulous treats on offer. However plans are in place to make a chocolatey Christmas treat closer to the day. The diet can resume again in the New Year!

Keto cauliflower cheese

We had a chicken roast at the weekend, again with my Keto cauliflower cheese. I try to adapt the recipe each time and decided to top with my favourite crumbly Lancashire cheese for this batch. Tomorrow I will mix chicken bits in the cauli cheese and bake together, it make a fabulous hearty Winter meal!

Christmas Gift Parcel

Post has been hit and miss this week, I even had a parcel delivered by someone who had received my parcel, half a mile away! Come on postie… sort it out! Fortunately a special parcel did make it through this week and Liv was particularly taken with her Christmas card – as a Friday Night Dinner fan, she loved her ‘Jim’ Christmas card!

Karen has again been making me jealous this week with images from her new bathroom and cakes, not as bad as the picture of someone writing Christmas cards on a beach in the Maldives I guess. Still, new friends for 2021 me thinks!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hopefully next week will be more action packed, with a walk out with my partner in crime to catch up on missing out this week! We will certainly need to wrap up warm though! What have you been up to this week? Are you prepared for Christmas and slowing down for the holidays?

It sounds like things are going well at school. There seems to have been a drop in cases at my youngest girls school lately, I hope it continues and nothing happens in the last week.
The clubs sound brilliant and that star is so pretty.
That is pretty coloured yarn. The crocheting looks fab.
What is it with the postmen. We had a letter for next door yesterday and so many people have been complaining in my local FB group about receiving other people’s post. x

    1. S1m

I hope numbers dropping continues too, because by heck this has been one long run of nothingness! The clubs are ace, she is so lucky! I don’t recall there being that many when I was there… it’s all making me want to go back!
      Postmen… don’t get me started! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Kara Guppy

I could not diet at this time of year, its just too tempting to indulge in all the naughty stuff. Loving all your crafts

Determination is not something I’m short of. It’s mighty tough, especially as Christmas food is my absolute favourite. However, needs must in order to relax a little and not explode!

  3. Samantha

Ooh I love your crochet blanket! My Nan taught me to knit when I was a kid, and I started up again last year, but I’ve always wanted to learn how to crochet too!

    1. S1m

I can only crochet in straight lines, which is very handy when making blankets! I’ve lost count how many I have made this year and still have a few more to go. They are great to give as gifts! Give it a try, it’s very relaxing!

  4. Rebecca Smith

I’m stopping my diet at the end of this week and resuming mine in the New Year as well! Work is slowing down here for me too – I want to spend time relaxing.

  5. Anosa

It sucks that as soon as they return to school in January they need to have those assessments so not much of a break to be honest.

  6. Jenny @:thebrickcastle

I do love a crumbly Lancashire….ooooh. I need some crackers too though ๐Ÿ˜€
The lighting is ridiculous now, it’s impossible to get anything the right colour! I have bought new bulbs for my kitchen though, it was getting a bit romantic in there and I was struggling to read instructions on boxes ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. Yeah Lifestyle

Your Keto Cauliflower Cheese looks so tasty and glad that you are slowing down a little as the year comes to an end. I am as well and it gives me some chance to start baking some cookies.

  8. Kira Hut

Iโ€™m keeping up with my diet until next week them I am having Xmas off as I definitely need it ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Jenna Farmer

I canโ€™t believe how quick this month has gone actually, I hope you have a lovely Xmas!

  10. Emma T

It’s good there are so many clubs. N is playing hockey at his primary at least twice a week. He’s loving it, although doesn’t want to play outside of school. There’s a really good club in town but with tennis we’d struggle with clashes for training.

Christmas all sorted here, hotel on the beach booked for 3 nights, sorry but had to be said lol. Love the crochet, wish i’d learnt pre lockdown, I just can’t follow from youtube. The after school and lunch time clubs sound a lot of fun for Live

  12. Fozia S

Your school seem to be doing some right! My eldest’s school shut to half the kids as the outbreaks were so bad!

That origami Christmas star looks pretty cool! Might have to get the girls to have a go at making some.

My eldest has some assessments too when she goes back in Jan…seems a bit harsh making them study over the Christmas holidays!

  13. Mudpie Fridays

I was really tempted to book a few nights away somewhere hot until I realised the hike in prices… Its been pretty uneventful here too I never thought I would be grateful for the elves. Hope Livs study is going well love the star may try that with the boys. The cauliflower cheese sounds yum!

  14. Karen Langridge

Love a bit of Jim what a fab card! You are so organised getting revision cards, I think mine have exams too, but I have no clue what they need to revise! Your cauliflower cheese is making my tummy growl and its almost midnight! It always looks so incredible. Oooh love flapjacks Liv please make some if we ever get a chance to visit. What a gorgeous origami star, well done Liv.

  15. Louise (Little Hearts, Big Love)

That origami star is amazing. Iโ€™ve not really slowed down for the holidays either โ€“ in fact the run-up to Christmas has been busier for me so Iโ€™m looking forward to a break! There is a lot of work behind the scenes with blogging. The blanket is so pretty โ€“ love the colours. Glad you managed to get your parcel that had been delivered to the wrong address. #project366

  16. loopyloulaura

Love the origami. I have enjoyed doing crafts in class but I am not a fan of mess! There are lots of cards delayed in the post right now ๐Ÿ™ #project366

Ooh as I am (finally) reading this with a fridge stuffed full of leftover turkey, I’m loving the idea of mixing some of that into a cauliflower cheese to use it up – genius idea ! I am rubbish at origami, I always end up folding a bit the wrong way (!) so I am very impressed with the star. The flapjacks sounds lovely too – haven’t made those for donkey’s years !
