Can Stationery Inspire You When Travelling?

Have you ever been inspired to visit a particular destination… or have you been inspired whilst away?

So much emphasis is put on taking images to make lifelong memories these days. That we have forgotten that we can actually be inspired to put words on paper! I used to love writing in my younger years, but with most hours during the day taken up with producing online content for Sim’s Life and other blogs, my only physical writing these days is Christmas cards!

Can Stationery Inspire You When Travelling?

Thankfully Pen Heaven have remedied that situation for me and have give me reason to pick up writing implements and scribe away at my leisure. Can stationery inspire you when travelling? Well, it certainly inspired writers such as Bryon, Hemingway and more, but where do you start? What stationery do you need? Let’s have a look at what has been inspiring me recently!

Amalfi Refillable Handmade Leather Journal (Medium £32.99)

Amalfi Leather Refillable Journal

The rather sensational Amalfi Leather Journal is handmade in Italy and perfect for jotting thoughts, inspiration, doddles and more into. A handy size (medium), it will easily fit into your bag or carry on baggage – the fact it is refillable is an added bonus, giving you the opportunity to never stop writing.

Containing a blank page notebook, this can be replaced with whichever medium sized notebook or diary you would prefer. The feel of the leather is sublime, so soft and welcoming, it almost begs to be used! With the leather tie, you are able to ensure the contents are kept secure and the journal itself easy to carry.

Which colour to choose?

There are several different colours to choose from, including Raspberry, Aubergine and more. Personally, I preferred the tan colour, it is a timeless colour and will only improve with age and use. There is the option of embossing the journal, to add a personal touch – this is priced from £5.

Pen Heaven Stationery

If you are going to invest in a journal for your musings, then you also need a trusty pen as an accompanyment! I do tend to stick to whatever pens I can find around the house, normally a promotional biro – so given the opportunity to write with a Caran d’Ache ballpoint pen and the difference in quality was evident immediately!

Caran d'Ache 849 Ballpoint pen

Caran d’Ache 849 Limited Edition ‘Claim Your Style# BallPoint Pen (£36)

Letting the pen glide effortlessly over paper leaving scribings behind in blue ink. The slightly weighted Caran d’Ache 849 Limited Edition ballpoint is an absolute joy to write with. Smooth, with no need to press down heavily, it is very comfy to hold the hexagonal designed pen. Whether writing for 5 minutes or hours. The clash of the bold turquoise body with mulberry pink top and gold clasp makes the pen seriously stand out. It is not so easy to misplace! Swiss Made, the pen is completely seamless, from its writing style, right down to the design. Even clicking the pen for the tip to appear makes no sound!

Caran d'Ache ballpoint pen tin

Stored in a handy magnetic, felt lined tin, this enables you to keep your pen safe and in pristine condition. There are quite a few different colours and combinations available in the Caran d’Ache ballpoint pen range. From more traditional colours, to daring bold colours. Engraving in several styles is also available for £7, allowing you to add a personal touch to the pen.

Whilst the pen maybe amazing to write with, it does not perfect your handwriting! 😉

Pairing the right pen and notebook together

So why this particular pairing of stationery? Pen Heaven put together collections based on countries in which writers have been inspired to write masterpieces. The Caran d’Ache turquoise ballpoint pen and leather journal are the perfect set to inspire when in the Caribbean. Bold colours mixed with the earthy colour of the journal make them the perfect beach accessories! The Caribbean inspired writers such as Hunter S. Thompson. Who escaped to Puerto Rico to pen his semi-autobiography ‘Rum Diary’ when fired from his journalist position in New York. Ian Fleming who was inspired to create the much loved James Bond character.

I think I need to take my stationery to Barbados tout suite, who knows what character I could create! Unfortunately inspiration did not strike on a recent stay in Blackpool. Even with a sea view balcony with the Disco Ball in sight, maybe sunshine could have helped!

Pen Heaven gift wrap

However, look how gorgeous the gift wrap is! Whether you purchase stationery treats for others, or yourself, adding the gift wrap option for £2.75 will add a wonderful element of surprise for what is hidden inside! Stationery is certainly always well received at Christmas!

Everyone has at least one book in them, if you could choose a destination in which to be inspired to write, where would it be?

  2. What a beautiful journal. I’ve been known to slip a notebook into my suitcase to note down the main points, sights and feelings of our day, so that it doesn’t all get lost in the melee of memories. Thanks for sharing with #PoCoLo

    • Aww thank you Stephanie! It really is, I’ve lusted after that type of journal for a while, but the fact it is reuseable and you can add your own notebook/diary takes it to a new level! Bring on 2020! 😉 x

  3. I always carry a note book and pen with me and I’m constantly writing, I write more when I’m travelling, at airports, on planes, buses and trains, in coffee shops and find I use a fresh notebook for each trip, some things get written into blog posts, some observations on my travels get shared on insta or with family/friends. most is just sitting their in random notebooks to be discovered one day #pocolo

  4. Hi Sim, I love nice stationary, but I know I would never make good use of that beautiful notebook and the equally as nice pen. I really wish I would. And how lovely is that gift wrap? I’d probably never open it if someone gave it to me as a gift (I’m odd like that, or it would be painful to watch!
