Staycation Destinations That Will Inspire

Travel has been somewhat harder this year due to Covid restrictions and multiple countries popping up on a strict quarantine list. However this has inspired many to take staycation breaks. The UK is such a beautiful place, with many amazing sights to take in, making it perfect for staycations! From rolling hills to ramble through and seaside towns to enjoy a relaxing day at the beach, each destination offering the chance to inspire.

If you are an artist, photographer or writer, there are many destinations in the UK that truly can inspire creativity. Pen Heaven, a favourite stationer’s of mine have the perfect places in mind. They also have the ideal stationery for those who have caught the writing bug this year!

Staycation Destinations That Will Inspire Your Creativity

Paul Smith Caran D' Ache pen

A pen and paper is all you need to make notes or write a novel, though that doesn’t mean your writing implements should just be ordinary! The occasion definitely calls for something a little more special!

Pairing stationery with destinations for staycation inspiration

The Paul Smith limited edition Caran D’ Ache pen (£35) and Filofax Domino Organiser (£36) are the suggested pairing for a trip to Wray Castle & Hill Top, Lake District.

A destination that inspired Beatrix Potter to write her much loved and enjoyed The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Inspired by the tranquility and breathtaking views, the Lake District is an ideal destination for those who want to experience the beauty of what the UK has to offer.

Filofax from Pen Heaven

You cannot write a novel in a diary I hear you say!

Actually, you can make many notes, doodles and scribbles that all add up to writing a masterpiece! Therefore, what better way to to that than with a gorgeous pen and diary set!

I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train” – Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Ernest.

Train travel around the UK gives you the perfect opportunity to take in the sights and be inspired. Allowing someone else to take control and deliver you to your destination. It’s easy to understand why this is a main mode of transport for many well known writers. Arrive at your staycation destination relaxed, brimming with ideas and be raring to go!

Wondering which other staycation destinations could inspire your creative juices? Check out the following for inspiration!

London

A stunning city, famed for it’s bustling nature and eclectic vibe. Why not follow in the footsteps of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who penned Sherlock Holmes, London’s most famous, fictional detective!

Bimingham

The area of Moseley not only inspired Ocean Colour Scene’s best album, Moseley Shoals, it also inspired J.R.R Tolkien. Who went on to write The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Whitby

Famed for its fish and chips, Bram Stoker’s wrote Dracula after being inspired by Whitby Abbey which made the perfect setting for the classic novel.

Cornwall

Such a stunning coatal area to visit, with so much to see and do. Tintagel Castle was suggested as being the birthplace of King Arthur in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s magnum opus Historia Regum Britannae.

Other writers inspired by the mythical beauty of the area include Roger Lancelyn Green, Chrétien de Troyes, and Alfred Tennyson.

A staycation visit to the Lake District That Will Inspire

With scenery as breathtakingly spectacular as this, it is easy to understand how Beatrix Potter found the inspiration. The Lake District is where she created a very cheeky rabbit named Peter!

Therefore, the Caran D’ Ache pen and Filofax featured fit the area perfectly. Following the ideals that Beatrix had when she wrote her much loved classic.

What to expect from Pen Heaven

Pen Heaven have the most amazing selection of pens, notebooks, diaries and more that can aid inspiration. All you need to worry about is the destination that will serve as the setting for your creativity.

  1. I have a plan one day to go somewhere with no internet and just a pen and note pad and finish writing my book I started 10 years ago, I already have 30,000 words, just need to do something with it. Thanks for linking with #pocolo

  2. That stationary is stunning. I always feel most creative where there is a mix of trees and water – infact that was where I came up with the plot for the novel I am currently very slowly writing.

  3. I have not been to the UK but I do have a cousin who lives there and loves to travel. I am going to ask him if he has been to any of these places. The pen would make a nice gift too.
