With her cute and adorable looks, super soft fur, setting Lucy Dog up to recognise commands such as her name and bark is quite easy and instructions are included – make sure you follow these properly to ensure your Lucy toy dog works correctly!
Aimed at children aged 3 – 6 years, I have to admit that my almost 8 year old daughter also loves Lucy! She really is the perfect cuddling buddy and certainly a lot more obedient than our actual dog!

Lucy showcases how intelligent she is by responding to a total of 15 commands. The Lucy Dog commands are:
- Bark
- Dance
- Eat
- Walk
- Sit
- Search
- Hello
- Get Up
- On Your Head
- Shake Hands
- Stand Up
- Bury
- ‘Call the dog by its name’
- Lay Down
- Give Me A Kiss
You do not actually need to call the dog Lucy, you can choose any name you wish! Under her belly, you can control the dog’s operation with the on and off buttons – alongside 3 different press buttons which encourage the toy to move on her ear, her back and her nose.

Our Thoughts On Lucy The Soft Toy
Lucy can struggle with the commands on occasion and can be temperamental. However be persistent and try the command again but don’t actually shout at her, just call her name and try again!
Call her by her name and she will bark once to let you know she is ready for the next command. I have noticed that Lucy will respond more to my voice than my daughter’s, I can only suggest that I may sound a little calmer!
Lucy requires 4 x AA batteries, so make sure you stock up before Christmas! Lucy and a range of her pals can be purchased from all good toy retailers such as Tesco and Amazon.
A dog is for life, not just for Christmas… although you may find the novelty of Lucy The Dog wears off long before the New Year!

We purchased one from a charity/thrift shop, is there a way to reset Lucy?
Hi Lotty,
It’s best to change the batteries in Lucy first.
Then, with the switch in the ON position:
1) Press Lucy’s left ear. She will bark once.
2) Say the name (clearly) that you prefer for her, eg “Lucy”. She will bark twice.
3) Then repeat her name to her. For better voice recognition, use a different tone of voice or intonation until she barks twice. If she does not bark twice, repeat her name again until she does.
4)Lastly, repeat the same name. Use a different intonation this time until she barks once. Now she can recognise the new name you have given her.
To give voice orders, first say her name so that she will listen to you. If she has understood you she will bark once. You must wait for her to stop barking before saying any of the voice orders to her. If she does not recognise your order, repeat her name stronggly, wait for her to bark once and say the order again. She may not hear if there is too much noise around, you need to be loud and definite we found.
This is so cute. I want one for Christmas, but I am not 6, I will be 46, is that still allowed? I would have been in my element if we’d had toys like this when I was little.
