Disclaimer: We were gifted an annual Readly app subscription for featuring this review post.

There is nothing quite like chilling on a sun lounger with a good read, such a fabulous way to recharge your batteries. However, if you are hoping to travel light this summer, you may well be torn on how to pack reading materials into valuable luggage space. This is why having access to a Readly app subscription is perfect for families travelling over the summer holidays!

With access to over 7,000 titles (current and backdated) and the ability to share subscription profiles over 5 devices, the whole family can sit back, relax and enjoy their favourite magazines, comics or newspapers wherever they are in the world.

Read on to find out more about the Readly app and what titles you can expect to find.

How does Readly work?

You can browse both new issues and back issues, download magazines for offline reading without an internet connection and share with family and friends on up to 5 devices.

The ability to download titles for reading when offline is super handy! You can still read via the app when on a flight and your device in on flight mode or if you are stuck in a airport due to a flight delay.

More importantly, you can still read your favourite magazines when you do not have access to WiFi, especially at the beach! With so many mobile phone operators now limiting mobile data use when away from the UK, this is a saviour if internet access is an issue.

How much does Readly cost per month?

A monthly subscription to Readly costs £9.99, which covers you across 5 profiles for mobile, tablet and desktop use. This works out to around £2.50 which I find quite reasonable considering how much buying physical copies of magazines and newspapers costs these days!

You can cancel at anytime, with no commitment, meaning you are not tied in which is also very reassuring.

Always keep an eye out for offers across the internet. Readly are currently running their Summer offer of one free month when you sign up via their website. With many more offers run throughout the year too.

Why I like using the Readly app

The price of magazines today has totally shocked me and the only time I would pick any up is at the airport. The fact I can flip through titles when using my phone couldn’t be any handier and allows m to enjoy some downtime, even when notifications keep streaming through!

Having access to current and back copies of magazines is a big draw for me, I need a celebrity gossip fill every so often. Though it is so easy to flip through to other titles when you need to read a more hard-hitting piece.

The setup process is very easy and before you know it, your whole family can be reading their favourite titles in the blink of an eye!

Top Tips For Boosting Your Child’s Love Of Reading This Summer

The summer maybe a chance for children to down tools and enjoy themselves, but there are plenty of ways to make reading fun during the holidays. Below, Readly kindly share their top tips for encouraging children to read during the summer holidays that you may find handy!

  1. Don’t just read at bedtime: Reading before going to bed is a classic ritual but for some children, it can be associated with having to stop playing. Build a more positive association with reading by switching up times and locations. Parents can try reading under the table or at a picnic outside while eating snacks to make it fun.
  2. Don’t be afraid to embrace technology to encourage reading. Just because children are turning to devices doesn’t mean they have to switch off from reading. There’s a plethora of easily accessible content on the web and in apps to encourage our children’s literary growth.
  3. Comic books can be a great place to start. With an emphasis on reading being fun, easy and above all, essential to establishing a regular reading habit, embracing comic books is a simple way to help more children find reading pleasure. Comics are also an excellent, non-threatening reading option for children to start reading in a non-native language.
  4. Lead by example: Children imitate their parents and other adults around them. Set a good example by cultivating your own reading habits. Don’t forget to discuss the latest article, magazine or book you’ve read with your child any time the opportunity arises.
  5. Ask and answer questions together: Reading widely even if you think the material is too advanced for your child is a great way to introduce new words and concepts. Use this as a way to capitalise on children’s natural curiosity to explore and learn together.
