Classy Gel Nail Designs

A perfect neutral, classy nail colour option for any time of the year. A cute marshmallow pink created with a pale pink base and light opal top coat to give the design some added shimmer. I am currently rocking this colour at the start of Autumn.

A simple but stunning gel nail design featuring a very muted, creamy mocha colour, which is perfect for Autumn and fall nail designs.
Summer Gel Nail Designs

Hot Miami pink nails.

Soft Barbie pink inspired nail design for Summer.

My favourite Coral colour is perfect for summer gel nails, especially when rocking a tan!
Autumn Nails – Designs For Fall Gel Nails

I wanted a little glitter after having coral coloured nails for 2 months, so this was the perfect opportunity. Choosing Autumn nail designs is hard as I don’t want to turn to colder colours just yet.
The brown nails, paired with a taupe coloured thumb nail and the stand out gold glitter on the fourth finger is a great colour combination to welcome fall and the colder weather.

Chrome Green Nails for Autumn 2024 are so on trend right now! It was my first time having the chrome effect added on top of a colour and I absolutely love it! Olive is such a gorgeous colour for fall nails – light, refreshing, calming and perfect for us heading into the colder weather!
Summer Nail Designs – Perfect for Holiday Nails

For the summer holidays, it’s always nice to choose fresh, light colours that will work really well with a tan. The baby pink, peppermint and yellow really do work so well together and it’s great to add a unique nail design to mix up the block colours.
Glitter Gel Nail Designs

I recently chose this pink nail look, chosen as a Spring-inspired manicure, but I do think this could easily be a simple style for the whole year.
The easiest way to update the look is to simply change the pink colour for different colours throughout the year.
The cute glitter nail really does stand out against the sparkly pink mani and the single white nail on my 5th finger rounds the look off perfectly.

This look was my first of the year, my ‘New Year, New Me’ look which featured a block brown colour and a mix of silver and gold glitter and lighter brown random brush strokes over a neutral base. This look holds a top spot among my favourite fall nail design ideas.
Always choose glitter!
Simple Gel Nail Designs

This image is from my very first BIAB gel nails manicure using a radiant turquoise colour. I settled on a square nails style with rounded edges and still use this nail shape.
I do like oval shaped nails, but they just wouldn’t work for me with having to type so much and I’m not sure how the style works with short nails!
There is a point at which your nails can become too long that it makes every day aspects a little harder, such as blogging!
The half moon shape is a really popular design which Ellie does freehand with a fine-lining nail art brush. She is brilliant at doing this and amazes me! My hands are far too shaky to attempt this type of nail art myself.

I have had quite a few crazy gel nail ideas in the last year that mainly involve clashing colours together to create my own unique design.
I’ve no idea what inspired this look – a mix of my love of Chelsea FC and Milka chocolate with added white lines to give the design my own stamp.

Ok, so not necessarily simple for Ellie to create due to the marble effect but definitely a really simple, refreshing looking.
I decided on a tan/ sand/ taupe shade with a marble nails design on my fourth finger. This combination perfectly captures the essence of fall nail designs for Thanksgiving or throughout the month of November, blending earthy tones with a touch of elegance.

The half moon nail shape is such a simple design but with the right colours, it can really stand out.
I chose a coral pink and turquoise to really clash, which I think they did brilliantly! This is a great colour combination for summer gel nails.
Gel Nail Flower Designs

I had seen a cute design but the exact colours weren’t available to recreate fully. I chose the closest colours possible and randomly decided on some cute floral nail art to add my own twist on the design.
The colourful flower using the darker pink and grey/green colours was easily added at the end of the curing process with a dotting tool and does take a steady hand!
Ellie, my manicurist is amazing and so skilled with all her nail art creations so this small floral nail design was no problem for her.
Animal Print Nail Looks

I had seen a similar design on social media, but used slightly different colours to achieve this look. Definitely a power look with a khaki aspect and animal print design.
The thin line of classic black really does help make the small, gold glitter blobs on my nails pop.
Christmas Gel Nails Inspiration

I LOVE this design, it has been my most favourite nail look so far and I only wish I could choose this throughout the year.
Such a simple Christmas gel nails look it really does stand out and I had so many comments about the design.
The simple Christmas tree added by freehand adds the festive touch, but this could be updated for any special occasion.

This classic red wine design had added sparkles that was a great option for the festive season.
I will definitely be rocking this classic style again in the run up to Christmas. It’s so simple yet so elegant and really does stand out.
Easter Gel Nails

With a solid coat of pastel polish applied twice over the pale pink gel base, these Mini Eggs inspired colours really do stand out for Easter nails.
I chose block pastel purple, pink and yellow for the look, but wish the purple and pink had been a little deeper in colour to help stand out more.

Gel Nail Designs FAQ
Quick note: some of the links below are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you buy — at no extra cost to you. I only ever recommend things I’ve actually used myself to help repair my nails.
How long do gel nails last?
Most gel manicures last around 2–3 weeks before you notice lifting or regrowth. If your nails grow quickly (mine do, I can just about get away with 3 weeks), you might feel “ready for a redo” sooner even if the polish still looks good.
Are gel nails bad for your nails?
Gel itself isn’t automatically “bad”, but removal is where damage happens if it’s peeled, picked or over-filed. The safest option is proper removal (soak-off where suitable) and a break now and then if your nails feel thin.
When I had my gels removed after wearing them solidly for 2 years, there was a fair bit of damage — my nails felt thin, weak and very sorry for themselves! I used OPI Repair Mode Nail Serum (affiliate link) religiously and noticed the difference quickly.
Follow the instructions properly (consistency is key) and it really does help repair the keratin in your nails. Within a few weeks mine felt noticeably stronger – a few months on and they are pretty much back to full health now.
Gel vs BIAB vs acrylic: what’s the difference?
Gel polish is colour cured under a lamp on your natural nails. BIAB (builder gel) adds strength and structure and is great if your nails bend, split or you want to grow them. Acrylic nails are the strongest and longest-wearing option, but it can feel heavier and usually needs more filing.
What nail shape suits short nails best?
For shorter nails, soft square (squoval) and oval usually look the most flattering and practical. They also tend to chip less than sharp corners if you’re typing a lot or doing “real life” things with your hands.
What are the best gel colours for winter and Christmas?
If you want festive without going full Santa, go for deep berry, classic red, forest green, chocolate brown, milky nude or gold shimmer. For Christmas nails that still feel “classy”, add one glitter accent nail or a subtle sparkle top coat.
How do I make my gel nails last longer?
A few simple things help: wear gloves for cleaning, avoid soaking in hot water for ages, use cuticle oil daily and don’t use nails as tools (we’ve all done it… but it never ends well!).
