Ever been baffled by whether a character was from DC Comics or Marvel? You and me both! There is no denying that Batman is a DC Comics legend though. Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, all the way back in the 1930’s, Batman is definitely more than just a comic character now.
The Creators Of Batman book by Rik Worth delves into the lives of Bob and Bill and makes for a very interesting read. Carry on to find out more about the book and how you can win a copy in the latest Sim’s Life giveaway!

Who Created The Dark Knight?
The world of Gotham is a particularly dark place, protected by a caped crusader known as Batman. Now, I cannot even draw a straight line with a ruler, but Bill Finger and Bob Kane had the creative flair to bring black and white drawings to life.
It’s easy to fully immerse yourself into a multi million dollar blockbuster with A list actors, vibrant colours and shock and awe stunts. Though as you can see from the image above, Batman’s arrival onto the comic scene was very dull compared to the Batman we know today.
Bill (born Milton) and Bob (born Robert) both grew up as young lads during the Great Depression. Something Stan Lee knew all about too, as featured in the How Marvel Changed The World Book. Whereas Bill had always been studious at school, Bob was known as ‘The Doodler’, a passion that his father also encouraged of him.
A Solo Affair
Despite involvement from other parties, namely Bill Finger, Bob Kane’s name is the sole name on the Batman comics. But why is that? Why didn’t Bill Finger receive the credit that he was evidently entitled to? I seriously don’t want to spoil anything for you, spoilers are never fun or well received! So, you need to read the book for yourself!
The book really is a great read! At 176 pages, there are only 8 pages of pictures, so don’t be expecting comic strips! Whether you are a fan of comics of not, finding out more about people who shaped the world we know today is always interesting. Learn more about the creators and the lead up to how they created Batman, and their colourful lives afterwards!
