In this post, we shall be taking a look at my first New You Plan review, featuring shakes and VLCD diet meals.
A week into the New You Plan and my hips are disappearing!
I have spent the last 22 weeks cutting down on food intake and exercising every day with no movement and a week on the TFR (total food replacement) diet and they are shifting!
How Do I Feel On The New You Plan VLCD?

Alongside a total loss of 8lbs this week (since I started last Monday), which includes a slip blip on Friday night due to tiredness and a hospital visit to see Jenny!
I am feeling absolutely fantastic not just due to knowing how much weight I have lost but also just in myself. There are no hunger pangs and even my skin is looking great due to all the water I am drinking… along with black coffee!
What Are New You Plan Meals Like?
Due to the different types of meals you can choose, as you aren’t just restricted to shakes, I am finding the diet very easy to manage whilst out and about and choose to take a Chocolate Cream Cookie flavour TFR bar with me.
These are absolutely delicious and certainly trick your mind into thinking you are munching on a chocolate bar. So the diet really does fit in nicely with my schedule.

If I need to mix a delicious tasting shake on the go (shake packet + 200ml of water) then shakers are available (complete with the metal shaker ball) to help you mix it all up on the go.
My friend has a sip of my shake this morning and commented that she would happily drink the chocolate shake all day – so much tastier than expected!
How much weight can you lose in a week on the New You Plan?
Quite a lot, but bear in mind that it will be water weight! The scales will be kind to you after the first week as your body is adapting. Stick with it to see results week on week!
A diet like this is great in conjunction with a weight loss pen like Mounjaro, and will allow you to lose weight as healthily as possible – the timelines can vary in such cases. The shakes and soups are easy on the gut, and if you need slightly more calories to ensure your deficit is not too low – you can just add in more packs or combine VLCD with a few conventional dishes.
What is the average weight loss on the New You Plan?
It depends! It totally depends on you, your weight, your own metabolism etc before you start the diet. Keep in mind that everyone is different!
How many calories a day is the New You Plan?
The New You Plan isn’t just a total food replacement diet, it is also a very low calorie diet, which is why you will see immediate weight loss results.
All the New You meal packs are nutritionally complete, so your body will get 100% of the RDAs that it needs. The specially controlled calorie count typically ranges from 600-800 calories per day when following the diet and having the packs as recommended.
Experimenting With The New You Diet Meal Packs
I have been experimenting slightly in the latter part of the week by making bhaji style New You Plan Chicken Noodle Curry – which does actually taste like the curry sauce you can order from a Fish and Chip shop – divine!
By simply mixing 30ml of water with the packet and baking in the oven at 170 degrees for 20 minutes, the mixture rises slightly and forms bhaji style muffins. The packet when mixed according to instructions is liquid like so having it in a bhaji style is awesome and gives you some chomping action!

New You Plan Chicken Soup Crisps
I even made Chicken Soup crisps by mixing up the packet with around 30ml of water again, smearing the paste in circles on baking paper and cooking in the microwave for roughly 2 and half minutes.
All in all, mentally I am in the right place to stick on this and with a great weight loss already behind me, there is nothing to stop me!

What You Can Expect From A Total Food Replacement Diet?
Always make sure you consult a Doctor before starting on a VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) such as the New You Plan. Albeit you may think TFR (Total Food Replacement) seems harsh, the 4 packs you are allowed on a daily basis do contain all the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutrients your body requires each day.
It just so happens, that when your body is in ketosis you also burn fat not only to provide energy and keep you going, but being in ketosis is how you lose the weight so quickly.
By drinking the recommended 4 litres of water (black tea or coffee can be drunk too) a day alongside the 4 packs, this is a healthy way to lose weight, just at a slightly quicker pace.
For me personally, a VLCD is a healthier option than what I was eating – although I was calorie counting before, I cannot wholeheartedly say that I was having my full daily intake of vitamins.
By using The New You Plan, I can be sure I am, the range is full of flavour and I actually look forward to the next meal – plus the hassle of what to eat has been taken away.
What are the side effects of the New You Plan?
The New You Plan is a total food replacement diet and promises transformative results. However, like any weight loss programme, it does come with its share of potential side effects.
While some people on the New You Plan may experience positive outcomes, such as rapid weight loss and improved self confidence, it is essential to be aware of the potential risks involved.
New You Plan side effects that can be common include fatigue, dizziness and irritability due to the drastic reduction in caloric intake. It is worth remembering that the lack of solid foods can lead to nutrient deficiencies, affecting overall health and potentially impacting the immune system.
Before embarking on this plan, it is crucial to consult with a healthcare professional to ensure it is a suitable option for individual needs and to monitor any potential adverse effects closely.
As with any dietary program, finding a balanced and sustainable approach is vital to achieving long-term health and wellness goals.

Whilst I do recommend TFR diets, they are not sustainable long term. Especially as part of a hectic lifestyle or social life, they are hard to continue. However, after years of TFR diet use, I found Keto which is the holy grail of losing weight, feeling better and improving your health.
