The Keto lifestyle is not as restrictive as people would first assume and the list of Keto friendly foods you can eat may surprise a lot! Liv and I get to test a variety of foods for Sim’s Life, but it’s always great to find relative items to include.
We’ve tested a range of food items recently, with some Keto and non Keto friendly foods included…
Keto and Non Keto Friendly Foods

Ghee Easy – Perfect for Keto cooking
Ghee is a form of clarified butter that was all associate with Indian cuisine, there is a reason poppadoms are so tasty! Simply use it as you would any other cooking oil. With almost non-existent carbs, it is highly recommended on the Keto diet.
Using Ghee Easy as my very first attempt at cooking with ghee, it has a consistency very similar of cooking Halloumi with coconut oil yet was very easy to spoon out.
It started melting quickly and doesn’t start smoking until it reaches around 250 degrees C, leaving you with a smoke free kitchen. It stores well and is a great alternative to using oils, priced at £6 for a 245g jar from Sainsbury’s. Ghee and coconut oil are Keto friendly foods that are an absolute staple!

Keto Friendly Heck Range
We are huge fans of the Heck range in our house and were so excited to try the new Heck Naked Pork and Chicken Sausages. I cooked the chicken sausages first (just cook them normally) and before I knew it they were all gone!
Liv hadn’t even waited for me to pair them up with any other food, she just ate them as a snack.
Clearly, as sausages you can pair them with most foods, however these are perfect to enjoy in a salad or pasta dish and I cannot wait to try them as the filling in my homemade Heck sausage rolls!

The new range also includes Sauerkraut, which is low in carbs and I have been enjoying this with steak – it’s the first time I have ever tried it and love it! Bring on the Heck hot dogs! You can purchase the Heck range from most supermarkets including Tesco.

Ombar Chocolate is not keto friendly
Totally not Keto friendly but so deliciously naughty! Ombar organic chocolate is made from raw cacao in order to retain its rich flavour and natural goodness. The range is immense and you will certainly find a combination to suit all tastes!
The whole Ombar range is vegan friendly, dairy and gluten free and also is free of any refined sugar – so it’s a lovely sweet treat without the guilt! The mini bars (35g as pictured above) are the perfect size to keep on your person for when you need a pick me up! You an purchase Ombar chocolate directly from the Ombar site.

Eisberg Non Alcoholic Wine
Non alcoholic wine is really popular, as it offers drinkers more alternatives if they are a designated driver, or they simply want the taste of wine without the hangover!
The Sparkling White Eisberg wine contains 31 calories per 125ml serving and the Rose, 33 calories – perfect for those who are health conscious but still wish to enjoy a refreshing drink. Unfortunately a 125ml glass contains 6g of carbs (my allowance is 20g per day), so I shall refrain for the moment and wait until I have a cheat day!
I can see myself enjoying a glass of when the weather warms up and Eisberg sparkling wines would be great to have on offer at a Royal Wedding party! The bottles are very in-keeping with sparkling wine and no-one would even assume it is alcohol free!
You an purchase Eisberg non alcoholic wine from most supermarkets, including Ocado for £3.99. If you are following Keto then you should check out Slim Wines for a zero carb alcoholic drink!

I’ve got to be honest, this is the first time I’ve ever been made aware of the kito lifestyle. It’s interesting to learn about these foods, the ombar sounds right up my street, going to keep an eye out for them.

I’ve never heard of Keto before (is it a fad diet?) – will look out for ghee easy though it looks like a great alternative.
I have to say I have never heard of Keto before – this is so interesting to read about. Kaz
I keep on hearing so much about Keto and need to check it out more. In particular, ghee. You are right, I always associated ghee with Indian cuisine but need to buy some I think! By the way, why are the sausages “naked”? What does that mean?!
My friend has swears by keto lifestyle choice .I must let her know these are in the likes of Tesco , she’s always buying online. I’ve never thought to try it myself but it’s funny now how you’ve written about it and she has been going on about it for awhile ,perhaps it’s a sign ?!
